This position plays a critical role in fostering and maintaining strong, long-term relationships with business members. By delivering prompt, reliable, and courteous service, the Business Services Officer ensures that business members receive comprehensive support for their deposit and lending needs. The role involves proactively identifying financial opportunities, providing tailored solutions, and guiding members through complex financial decisions. In addition to day-to-day service, the position contributes to the strategic goals of the Credit Union by supporting business development initiatives, enhancing member satisfaction, and promoting financial wellness within the business community. The Business Services Officer acts as a trusted advisor and liaison, ensuring that each interaction aligns with the Credit Union’s mission and core values while driving growth and operational excellence.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

May include any and/or all of the following:

  • Open and manage new business accounts with accuracy and professionalism, ensuring a seamless and positive experience for members; promptly address and resolve any deficiencies.
  • Review and verify business account documentation to confirm completeness and obtain all required signatures in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Analyze business loan applications, including credit history and financial statements, to make sound lending decisions that align with credit union policies.
  • Design and implement innovative programs to expand the business services portfolio helping to drive deposit growth and loan balances in both quality and quantity.
  • Conduct needs assessments and proactively cross-sell relevant products and services to strengthen member relationships and financial well-being.
  • Build and nurture long-term relationships with prospective business members through outreach, engagement, and personalized service.
  • Evaluate loan underwriting practices in the market and provide recommendations to ensure the integrity and profitability of commercial lending activities.
  • Collaborate with the VP to develop and execute strategic initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and elevate member service standards.
  • Formulate and enforce commercial lending policies and procedures that support financial stability and revenue generation within the market.
  • Foster partnerships with community organizations to support and enhance member engagement ultimately yielding growth by way of increases in deposits and loans.
  • Participate in local business and community events to promote the Credit Union and build brand awareness.
  • Align with strategic Credit Union objectives by proactively shifting focus between deposit acquisition and lending initiatives based on organizational priorities.
  • Complete all required compliance training and assessments to maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Take on additional responsibilities and projects as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.

  • Business services, including deposit and lending products, procedures, standards and policies
  • Business Lending functions including policies, practices, and standards
  • Modern office equipment
  • Credit Union operations, procedures, products, services, philosophies, practices, and systems

      • Read and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form.

QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job required.

REQUIREMENTS

Regular attendance and timeliness are essential functions of this position. While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand for a significant period of time and perform functions that require manual dexterity. The employee must occasionally reach above or below normal body position, stoop or bend, and carry, lift or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. A normal range of hearing, vision, and speech are required to effectively work with co-employees and members.

Follows regulatory and policy compliance requirements, which include those efforts in compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Regulations, Identity Theft Red Flags and other compliance related Policies. This position also requires maintaining confidentiality with regard to non-public information about our members and the Credit Union.
