Overview

This is a remote role that may only be hired in the following location(s): Phoenix, Charlotte, Raleigh, and Denver.

SVB is looking to hire a Business Risk Process Analyst supporting the SVB Commercial Bank. This position is an individual contributor and will report directly to the Director, Business Risk Process Management within the Loan Administration organization, with a dotted line to the Business Risk & Control Office.

This position will be responsible for developing and executing first-line risk programs. It will primarily support testing related to the newly established First Line Monitoring Program, which supports commercial credit and loan closing processes across SVB Commercial Bank. The role requires collaboration with both first-line risk programs and business leadership to complete testing on high-risk processes and identify potential improvements. Promoting an environment of risk awareness and ownership across the Bank while adhering to the Company’s Risk Appetite and Corporate Strategy is essential.

This role is key in facilitating and driving risk ownership within SVB Commercial Bank. The ideal candidate will foster awareness, accountability, and a risk-aware culture throughout the organization, providing expertise to enhance risk ownership in business processes.

The candidate will support the evolution of the risk framework, connecting related teams and workflows to achieve success.

Responsibilities

• Execute testing functions associated with the First Line Monitoring Program.
• Communicate testing findings clearly and concisely.
• Create testing procedures and attributes to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
• Translate control deficiencies into action plans and provide recommendations to improve governance practices aligned with risk and compliance frameworks.
• Drive effective change management communication among 1st Line of Defense stakeholders.
• Proactively identify opportunities to enhance the control environment through actionable insights.
• Support issue remediation efforts or control execution as needed.
• Communicate issues and requests proactively and transparently.
• Promote business process and operations awareness, accountability, and culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with 4 years of experience in Control testing, Enterprise Risk, Commercial Lending, or similar field, or High School/GED with 8 years of relevant experience.
• Preferred:
• Strong knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, supervisory guidance, and expectations for large financial institutions.
• Lending experience, including knowledge of credit packages and identifying credit policy exceptions or documentation issues supporting credit extensions.
• Experience with Risk and Controls or Control Testing.
• Understanding of business strategy, critical success factors, risk profile, and potential exposures.
• Ability to challenge norms proactively and develop and implement solutions effectively.

For Denver, the base pay ranges from $76,670 to $90,200 annually, depending on experience. Actual starting pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other factors.
