About the Role

As a Business Risk and Controls Advisor Senior, you will be part of the first line of defense, ensuring the effectiveness of risk and compliance management programs, risk analytics, and operations. You will collaborate with Compliance, Risk Management, Business Operations, IT, Audit Services, and Regulators to support risk and compliance initiatives. Your responsibilities include supervising business controls, managing risk assessment data, facilitating audits, and monitoring the control environment to minimize risk exposures.

Location and Work Environment

This role requires in-office presence 4 days a week and can be based in San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, Chesapeake, VA, or Tampa, FL. Please note, relocation assistance is not provided.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead solutions for controls and compliance initiatives, including oversight of procedures, regulatory reporting, and control design.
  2. Supervise and evaluate the effectiveness of business controls.
  3. Analyze risk data, prepare reports, and identify trends using business intelligence tools.
  4. Proactively identify opportunities to improve the control environment.
  5. Translate control deficiencies into action plans and recommend improvements.
  6. Partner with stakeholders to drive risk mitigation efforts.
  7. Lead project teams through risk remediation phases.
  8. Advise management on control environment status and escalate issues as needed.
  9. Develop processes and tools for handling exception alerts.
  10. Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  11. Provide guidance and support to team members.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of related experience.
  • At least 6 years supporting risk, compliance, or business control activities; advanced degrees or certifications preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal laws and regulations such as OCC Standards, BSA/AML, REG E, UDAAP/UDAP, TILA/REG Z, SCRA, FCRA, MLA.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with bank issue management, issue validation testing, and remediation.
  • Regulatory experience in REG E, REG Z, SCRA, AML, FCRA, disputes, garnishments, fraud, and bank tax.
  • Ability to propose innovative solutions to complex problems.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $103,450 - $197,730. USAA offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), pension, life insurance, parental and adoption benefits, paid time off, wellness programs, and professional development opportunities.
