Job summary

Roche in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Business Process Expert to analyze, stabilize, and continually improve business processes and related logistics systems within Digital Operations in Near Patient Care.

You will bridge Business and IT, support SAP ECC 6.0-based processes (MM, PP, PP-PI), manage incidents, perform testing and change control, and drive data-driven process improvements while ensuring safety, quality, and cost reduction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, IT, or related healthcare field.
• 8 years of equivalent functionally relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• 4 years of relevant professional work experience.
• Experience with SAP project work and/or project management.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate solution-specific support within business processes for assigned business and logistics systems.
• Provide hands-on SAP ECC 6.0 production support in MM, PP, PP-PI, and related production/logistics processes.
• Analyze incidents, support users, document findings, and ensure stable daily operations.
• Support changes, bug fixes, testing, regression testing, UAT, and traceable documentation.
• Collect and analyze process data to identify problems and drive improvements in safety, productivity, quality and cost.
• Develop and maintain standards and documentation for supported systems and processes.
• Develop, maintain, and deliver training materials and user guides to improve self-sufficiency.

Be a part of our journey! As a Business Process Expert, you will support the analysis, stabilization, and continuous improvement of business processes and related business and logistics systems within Digital Operations in the Near Patient Care Operations environment.

You will serve as a functional bridge between Business and IT, address functional system and process topics, and contribute to testing, training, documentation, standardization, and continuous improvement.

With your practical SAP and manufacturing process knowledge, you will support reliable day‑to‑day operations, contribute to effective incident resolution, and help implement standardized improvements in our business solutions environment.

The Opportunity

Business Process & Solution Support

Provide and coordinate solution‑specific support within business processes for assigned business and logistics systems. Analyze and resolve functional incidents, service requests, and user issues in collaboration with business functions, IT, and support units.

SAP Production Support

Provide hands‑on support for SAP ECC 6.0 related business processes in Materials Management, Production Planning, PP‑PI, shop floor execution, master data, and related production and logistics processes. Analyze incidents, support users, document findings, and contribute to stable execution of daily operations.

Incident Management & Troubleshooting

Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve functional incidents and user issues in live production environments, including transaction errors, master data inconsistencies, interface issues, output management topics, and recurring user problems. Escalate or align complex cross‑functional topics with senior experts, IT, and support units where needed.

Testing & Change Support

Support changes, bug fixes, minor enhancements, functional testing, regression testing, user acceptance testing, and traceable documentation to ensure stable and compliant system and process changes.

Process Data Analysis & Improvement

Collect and analyze process data to identify process problems, systematic errors, and critical issues. Propose and support improvements to business practices and processes with a focus on safety, productivity, quality, and cost reduction.

Standards & Documentation

Develop and maintain standards for supported systems and processes and contribute to process improvement initiatives that increase quality, productivity, compliance, and standardization.

Training & Knowledge Transfer

Develop, maintain, and deliver training materials, user documentation, troubleshooting guides, and end‑user or key‑user trainings to improve self‑sufficiency and effective system utilization.

Tools, Reporting & Best Practices

Maintain and administer tools and reports in the support process. Review how new technologies, tools, and systems can support business process modeling and modification, and contribute relevant best practices from within and outside the organization.

Who You Are

Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, IT, or related healthcare field; 8 years of equivalent functionally relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

Preferences

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business Informatics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain / Operations, Computer Science, Engineering, or a comparable qualification.

Experience

Experience with SAP project work and/or project management.

Business Process & Systems Knowledge

Strong conceptual and practical knowledge of business process management as well as business and logistics systems, ideally in an ERP‑related environment.

SAP Functional Knowledge

3+ years of hands‑on experience in SAP ECC 6.0 production support is highly valuable, especially in SAP MM, PP, and PP‑PI, including procurement, inventory management, material master data, production orders, process orders, batch management, and shop floor execution.

Manufacturing & Interface Understanding

Experience working in or closely supporting a manufacturing or production environment is beneficial, including support of custom solutions, SAP interfaces, MES‑related processes, scanning or printing solutions, IDoc processing, custom transactions, and output management.

Problem Solving & Collaboration

Structured problem‑solving skills, strong analytical thinking, customer‑centricity, and a sense of urgency when dealing with production‑critical incidents. Strong communication skills and confident collaboration with Business and IT stakeholders, including the ability to translate technical issues into business‑friendly language and vice versa.

Additional Knowledge

Knowledge of production, supply, quality, or master data processes is an advantage. Experience with ticket‑based support models such as ServiceNow and knowledge of emerging SAP technologies such as S/4HANA are beneficial.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Indianapolis is $82,300 - $152,800. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job‑related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
