Description
The Business Process Engineer serves as a key leader in modernizing and optimizing business operations through structured process analysis and business process reengineering. This role focuses on increasing organizational efficiency, reducing operational costs, and aligning mission outcomes with scalable, repeatable practices. Operating within a Department of Defense (DoD) and U.S. Army context, the Business Process Engineer applies industry and government best practices to streamline workflows, drive operational agility, and enhance data-driven decision-making through business process transformation and innovation.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead business process improvement and reengineering efforts across mission-critical initiatives using methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma, Agile, and PMI best practices.
- Provide leadership with business process assessment results and improvement recommendations aligned with strategic and tactical outcomes.
- Establish predictable and repeatable processes within and across organizations that leverage leading practices, actively measured and monitored, and embrace continuous improvement.
- Conduct discovery sessions to gather and define requirements through interviews, documentation analysis, and collaboration.
- Map current workflows, identify process actors and inputs/outputs, and design detailed process diagrams.
- Analyze operational efficiency and develop future-state process models aligned with mission objectives.
- Draft and manage Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including tracking status, developing process narratives, and coordinating input from process owners.
- Design, validate, and configure data capture solutions to ensure accurate and actionable process metrics.
- Develop briefing materials and reports for executive forums such as program reviews and staff meetings.
- Coordinate and produce timely responses to Task Management Tool (TMT) taskings.
- Maintain organized files and records in Microsoft Teams, aligned with records management policies.
- Execute business process assessments and operations analyses, delivering data-driven solutions to operational challenges.
- Collaborate with Project Officers and leads to identify inefficiencies, define remediation strategies, and promote continuous improvement.
- Produce deliverables such as white papers, reports, and presentations that communicate process recommendations and outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field plus 2 years of additional experience.
- 8+ years of experience in business process re-engineering support.
- Experience transforming and improving organizational processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with a proactive problem-solving approach.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Teams, and Agile tools like Jira or Azure DevOps.
- Must possess and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
