Role Overview

Chartis is seeking a Business Process Consultant with 5+ years of Epic Health Information Management (HIM) experience to join our Revenue Cycle Transformation Practice. In this role, you will support healthcare organizations in optimizing Epic’s HIM modules, including Release of Information, Deficiency Tracking, and Inpatient Coding workflows. You will guide clients through the design, implementation, and optimization of HIM processes to promote compliance, operational efficiency, and seamless integration between clinical documentation and health record management.

You will collaborate with operational leadership, IT, coding teams, compliance stakeholders, and Epic analysts to align HIM strategy with organizational goals and industry best practices.

Responsibilities
  • HIM Workflow Optimization: Evaluate and improve HIM processes across departments, including record completion, deficiency management, and physician documentation. Ensure alignment with regulatory compliance and internal standards.
  • Epic System Configuration Alignment: Partner with Epic analysts and IT teams to optimize system design for HIM modules such as Release of Information, Chart Tracking, and Coding workflows. Ensure efficient use of workqueues, SmartTools, routing logic, and HIM reporting.
  • Compliance and Documentation Integrity: Support efforts to ensure timely record completion, accurate coding practices, and secure release of patient information. Analyze audit results and support corrective actions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a liaison between HIM, compliance, clinical operations, and IT teams. Translate HIM requirements into system build specifications. Support training and adoption efforts across user groups.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Utilize Epic’s reporting tools to monitor HIM KPIs, including delinquent charts, coding turnaround time, ROI processing, and audit outcomes. Develop and maintain dashboards to support operational oversight.
  • Testing and Validation: Support testing for new or updated HIM functionality, including integrated testing and user acceptance testing.
  • Project Management: Drive project timelines, manage deliverables, and support change management. Communicate project status and risks to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Client Communication: Deliver concise, client-ready communication and documentation that clearly outlines strategies, workflows, and outcomes.
Qualifications and Desired Skills

l5+ years in a Health Information Management (HIM) leadership or consulting role, with deep experience in Epic HIM modules.

lMust be certified in Epic’s suite of HIM applications (Release of Information, Deficiency Tracking, and Coding).

lStrong understanding of medical records management, clinical documentation requirements, and regulatory compliance.

lExperience leading HIM projects across hospital or health system environments.

lExceptional communication and project management skills.

lAbility to translate HIM needs into Epic configuration and workflow design.

Salary range: $118,000-$172,000, plus may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. The salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications, practice area, and other business and organizational needs. In addition, Chartis offers several benefits including medical, dental, vision, HSA, FSA, disability insurance, life insurance, 401(k) match, paid time off, wellness stipend, and additional voluntary benefits.
