Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Business Operations Manager for Starlink Platform Integrity in Hawthorne, CA. You will proactively identify abuse risks, design solutions with stakeholders, and represent the team across the organization to enforce responsible protections while safeguarding user privacy.

You will lead investigations into fraud, illicit activity, and platform misuse, developing expertise in investigative techniques and ensuring compliance reviews are performed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of professional experience in global affairs, intelligence, or investigations; OR 12+ years in lieu of a degree.
  • 6+ years of experience with data querying languages (SQL), scripting languages (Python), geospatial tools (ArcGIS), and/or statistical software (R)
  • 6+ years of experience investigating, mitigating, or dealing with illicit operators (e.g., fraud, abuse, cybersecurity, or other illicit activities)
  • 3+ years owning and driving improvements in processes, technology, or other business areas to improve customer integrity or related capabilities

  • Conduct periodic reviews to support legal and compliance obligations
  • Execute with consideration for customer privacy, targeting activities of indisputable harm and avoiding overreach

BUSINESS OPERATIONS MANAGER (STARLINK PLATFORM INTEGRITY)

At SpaceX, we are committed to ensuring the service remains a force for good and sustains trust worldwide: both connecting the unconnected and executing thorough processes to detect and prevent misuse by illicit operators. We are looking for an experienced Business Operations Manager, known internally as Customer Integrity & Threat Detection Manager, to detect, disrupt, and investigate potential misuse of the service—including proactively combating and deterring illicit operators. This person must strike the careful balance of safeguarding customer information and privacy while applying enforcement measures and executing with an even-handed approach, avoiding overreach and disproportionate collateral impacts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Proactively identify and assess platform integrity and abuse risks

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of professional experience in global affairs, intelligence, or investigations; OR 12+ years of professional experience in global affairs, intelligence, or investigations in lieu of a degree
  • 6+ years of experience with data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python), geospatial tools (e.g., ArcGIS), and/or statistical software (e.g., R)
  • 6+ years of experience investigating, mitigating, or dealing with illicit operators (e.g., fraud, abuse, cybersecurity, or other illicit activities)
  • 3+ years owning and driving improvements in processes, technology, or other business areas to improve customer integrity or related capabilities
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience enabling others, influencing organizational decisions, and building consensus around solutions to challenging problems
  • Strong analytical research and communication skills, including excellent written and oral communication skills
  • International professionalexposure(e.g., working abroad or on global initiatives/businesses)
  • Experience in cybersecurity operations, threat detection, or vulnerability assessment in high-stakes environments
  • Experience with research and intelligence analytic techniques, including open-source intelligence (OSINT) data techniques
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment in a fast-paced, high-tech environment
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Familiarity with U.S. and international economic sanctions and export control laws and regulations
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to travel as needed for business (15%)
  • This position is based in Hawthorne, CA and requires being onsite—remote work not considered
  • Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay Range: Level 3: $135,000.00 - $200,000.00

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
