Job description

The Office of Research Core Administration (ORCA) is seeking a Unit Administrator level 1 or 2 (working title: Business Manager). This position will provide support to the Assistant Director and Director of Research Infrastructure. ORCA supports operations of 20 Research Cores in the School of Medicine by reporting monthly income statements, billing and fund recovery, facilitating new hires, coordinating the annual RAC report and strategizing core operations with the Assistant Director of Research Infrastructure. The Business Manager will report directly to and will work closely with Assistant Director to maintain and improve operational capabilities and will provide customer service support for the School of Medicine principal investigators.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Preparing financial reports
  • Assisting with the writing of standard operating procedures
  • Providing customer support to iLab users
  • Performing monthly billing process
  • Assist Core Directors in navigating IT and facilities management issues
  • Providing grant writing support to the Core Directors
  • Payment collection and reconciliation for external invoices
  • Web page development and management
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree
Experience:

  • Level 1 - Two years of relevant exempt level experience, typically in finance and budget. Relevant exempt level experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Level 2 - Four years of increasingly responsible management and administrative responsibility is required. Two years of supervisory experience is required. Relevant exempt level experience may substitute for a degree.

*Salary will be determined based on the job level and aligned with the candidate’s education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft tools
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles
  • Understanding financial report
  • Excellent communication and organization skills


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
