BJC HealthCare is seeking a Business Manager, Patient Care Services in St. Louis to lead budgeting, forecasting, labor productivity, and staffing analytics. The role collaborates with nursing leadership and finance to drive informed decision-making and workforce planning.

The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator and problem-solver with healthcare operations experience, guiding performance across inpatient nursing, the Emergency Department, and other clinical areas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree (Business/HC Admin) required.
• 5–10 years of experience in healthcare operations.
• 2–5 years of supervisor experience.
• Master's Degree in Business/HC Admin or related field preferred.
• 10+ years of experience and 5–10 years of supervisor experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages hires, trains, assigns work, evaluates performance, and development plans.
• Analyzes large data sets to support operations and strategic goals.
• Identifies and implements cost reduction strategies.
• Directs operating and capital budgeting and monitors actual costs vs budgets.

Additional Information About the Role

The Business Manager, Patient Care Services plays a key role insupporting financial and operational performance across inpatient nursing, the Emergency Department, and other clinical areas. This role leads budgeting, forecasting, labor productivity, staffing analytics, and operational reporting while collaborating with nursing leadership and finance teams to drive informed decision-making, workforce planning, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, relationship builder, and problem-solver with healthcare operations experience.

Role Purpose

Provides strategic leadership and consultation in operational and financial analysis for a clinical department(s) of a significant size and operating budget. Builds collaborative teams that strive for continuous improvement and business results that meet/exceed every customer's expectation.

Responsibilities

• Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
• Analyzes large amounts of data and provides in-depth analysis needed to support services within the business operations to meet operational and strategic goals.
• Identifies and initiates cost reduction strategies.
• Directs and manages the operating and capital budgeting processes for the department, including the monitoring of actual costs against these budgets.
• Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
