  • Business Intelligence Technician - Hybrid, PA

Method of interview: initial virtual interview via Teams, followed potentially by an in-person interview at 219 Finance Building, Harrisburg, PA 17120.

Work arrangement: This 40-hour per week position is primarily remote. The candidate will need to periodically come onsite (approximately once a month) to meet with the business team.

Background check requirements: If the candidate resides in PA, a PATCH will suffice. If out of state, a state government-issued background check is required instead of a third-party clearance.

Position duration: The PO will run through 12/31/25, with potential extension in 6-month increments if the fit is good.

Position summary: PA Treasury seeks a Business Intelligence Technician to develop comprehensive BI solutions for the Bureau of Savings Programs, which manages PA 529 College and Career Savings, PA ABLE, and Keystone Scholars. Responsibilities include organizing, automating, analyzing, and interpreting large datasets to identify trends, inform strategies, enable segmentation, and evaluate programs. The role requires understanding data structures, data management, analysis, and reporting, reporting to the Business Unit with close collaboration with Treasury’s IT department.

Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as a liaison between the business unit and IT to define, design, implement, and maintain data storage, management, reporting, and analysis solutions.
  2. Work with the business unit to identify requirements and translate them into data project specifications.
  3. Transform data from various sources into uniform formats for analysis.
  4. Utilize Microsoft reporting and analytics tools (Azure Dataverse, SQL Server, Power BI, Power Automate) to explore data.
  5. Develop algorithms and queries for data cleaning and processing.
  6. Analyze data using statistical methods and tools like Excel, SQL, Power BI, Python to identify patterns and insights.
  7. Create visualizations and reports to communicate findings.
  8. Operate within Treasury IT frameworks, tools, and security policies to create scalable data solutions.
  9. Evaluate opportunities for automation to improve efficiency and accuracy, and implement approved processes.
  10. Establish processes to monitor and evaluate the sustainability of data analytics capabilities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data analysis or related field.
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft reporting tools (Azure Dataverse, SQL Server, Power BI, Power Automate).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
