Vice President of Human Resources | PHR, SHRM-CP

Sugar Mountain is a creative food company that is home to extraordinary food brands and restaurants. From our award-winning Beecher’s Handmade Cheese to The Butcher’s Table, our swanky steakhouse that features Mishima Reserve, our luxury Wagyu beef brand, we make real food with absolutely zero artificial ingredients. We are a team at the forefront of the food revolution, passionate about our mission to Change the Way America Eats. For the past 5 years, Sugar Mountain’s company culture has been recognized as a Great Place to Work.

We’re looking for a Business Intelligence Specialist to support our Sugar Mountain Livestock team by transforming how data and software are used across their operations. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with Sales, Production, Finance, and IT teams to deliver actionable insights, improve operational efficiency, and enhance business predictability.

Acting as a strategic partner, you’ll turn cattle, sales, and financial data into clear, impactful insights. Your work will help drive continuous process improvements in reporting, workflow design, and data-driven decision-making.

We are committed to a hybrid model with a combination of working from home and in our Seattle office. This position will be required to work in the office at least 3 days a week.

Responsibilities:

• Manage all cattle-related data with a strong emphasis on accuracy, integrity, governance, and data stewardship; oversee ETL processes, audits, user training, and coordination with third-party providers such as MEQ and feedlots.

• Translate cattle production, feedlot, and financial business processes into scalable, self-service dashboards and reporting tools using platforms like DOMO, Inecta, and SQL.

• Partner with business leaders to prioritize and execute a backlog of reporting and workflow automation requests, delivering iterative solutions that reduce manual work and improve operational throughput.

• Identify and implement workflow and process improvements that streamline operations, especially for Production and Operations teams.

• Rapidly prototype initial versions of analytics or digital tools to test concepts, then collaborate with the Technical Architect for full-scale integration into the enterprise data ecosystem.

• Ask thoughtful questions and challenge assumptions to help uncover the best solutions, while working collaboratively within established processes.

• Elevate data literacy by training end users, creating and maintaining process documentation, and proactively delivering insights to support informed decision-making.

• Develop and maintain custom dataflows, datasets, and reporting structures based on user requirements while ensuring alignment with the source systems’ architecture.

• Collaborate cross-functionally to support testing, validation, and delivery of reliable BI solutions that enable data-driven insights across the organization.

• Provide proactive insights into business challenges and opportunities, going beyond standard reporting to highlight emerging trends, risks, and areas for improvement.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Animal Science, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience with a proven track record of success; accounting or financial acumen is a plus.

• Minimum of two years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or related roles; experience in livestock, agriculture, or process manufacturing is strongly preferred.

• Hands-on experience with ERP, BI, and ETL platforms (e.g., Business Central, DOMO, Power BI, SQL, or modern cloud data warehouses), along with a solid understanding of data governance best practices.

• Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into scalable data products and clear KPIs that drive operational improvements.

• Strong analytical, communication, and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple requests and deliver results on time.

• A curious, proactive learner with a detail-oriented mindset, eager to contribute in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.

• Comfortable collaborating with external experts on advanced analytics or data science tasks; deep machine learning expertise is a plus.

Compensation:

The starting salary range for this position is between $80,000 - $95,000 per year, plus an annual bonus plan. Actual compensation will be determined by skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Employee Benefits:

Sugar Mountain offers medical, dental, vision and life insurance premiums, along with paid time-off, paid holidays and a 401(k) plan with a company match. Employees enjoy a 35% employee discount at Sugar Mountain locations.

Commitment to Our Communities:

Sugar Mountain has created the Beecher's Foundation, a non-profit funded by a portion of sales from companies under the Sugar Mountain umbrella. Aimed at educating people about the prevalence of food additives and their possible health risks, the Foundation is about giving people the tools they need to make healthy eating choices for life.

We are committed to building a staff that includes individuals from different cultural backgrounds, genders, ages, sexual orientation, and physical abilities. We strive to create a team that reflects the diversity of the communities we work in.

Sugar Mountain is a tobacco- free company.
