Business Intelligence Reporting Analyst (Power BI)

Compensation Range: $65,000 - $80,000

Location: US Based Remote

The Mortgage Business Intelligence & Analytics team oversees all activities and functions involved with the company’s Business Intelligence platform, providing mortgage business leaders with reliable, actionable data to manage and understand the business better and drive growth.

We are seeking a Business Intelligence Reporting Analyst to develop our Power BI reporting environment for the Sales team. The role involves creating impactful dashboards and reports that deliver meaningful data to business leaders to meet organizational goals. This position goes beyond data compilation; it involves storytelling with data to derive insights and report on sales leads through the sales pipeline.

The ideal candidate will have a strong Power BI background, be detail-oriented, and able to infer business needs to develop effective reporting solutions using best practices in data visualization, Gestalt principles, storytelling, and visualization selection. They should be capable of exploring new data sources independently, proactively ensure data quality, and stay updated on Power BI features for potential implementation.

What You Will Be Doing

Report Development (50%)

• Meet with business leaders/users to understand their needs and requirements.
• Build effective reports and dashboards using best practices in data presentation and design.

Semantic Model Design (15%)

• Build semantic models for CRM data to support reporting needs.
• Monitor model efficiency and optimize performance as needed.

Analysis (25%)

• Identify trends to share with sales leaders.
• Explore data for deeper insights into KPIs.

Documentation (5%)

• Document report development processes and maintain semantic model documentation, data sources, and relationships.
• Maintain an index of active reports, data lineage, purpose, and audience.
• Keep a reporting changelog.

Team Support & Other Duties (5%)

• Provide support for ongoing team work as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a data or business intelligence role.
• 5+ years creating BI dashboards and reports focusing on visualization and storytelling, with high proficiency in Power BI.
• 3+ years writing SQL queries for data mining.
• Strong understanding of CRM systems and data.
• Ability to understand data through business context, exploration, and logical connections.
• Mortgage experience is preferred.

Required Skills

• Advanced Power BI skills: semantic models, DAX, Power Query, row-level security, calculation groups, visualization, Performance Analyzer, DAX Studio.
• Intermediate SQL (T-SQL): select queries, joins, normalization, window functions.
• Strong communication skills.

This opportunity is fully remote, with options to work from our offices in San Diego, CA, Irvine, CA, or Omaha, NE. You will join a distributed team across US time zones supporting our business nationwide.
