Job summary

Amazon's Supply Chain Placement team seeks a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to influence inventory placement, optimize delivery speed, and cut costs by placing the right items in the right Amazon buildings. You will dive into complex data, identify process improvements, and partner with planning, fulfillment, and global tech teams.

You will design metrics, build dashboards, model placement strategies, and pilot production changes across systems.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with modern BI tools and databases.
• Experience with data visualization using Tableau or Quicksight.
• Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines.
• Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab.
• Experience using SQL to pull data from a database and Python for data processing.

The Supply Chain Placement team is looking for a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer. You will contribute to defining and building inventory placement success metrics, and finding ways to reduce distance to customers by placing the right items in the right Amazon building in order to increase delivery speed and reduce costs. You will chase defects in our systems, leaving no stone un-turned to delight our customers with wider selection. This role will give you a unique view on Amazon systems, process and operations, interacting with planning teams, fulfillment centers and worldwide technical teams. Key job responsibilities

You Will Lead Critical Performance Management Initiatives For Inventory Placement Leveraging Complex Data Management/visualization And Presenting Those To Different Levels Within The Company

Design and own the right set of metrics measuring inventory placement performance.

Recommend improvements to the placement strategy using modelling and large datasets. You'll guide planning teams and other relevant stakeholders with regards to the mix of products to place in Amazon buildings, maximizing selection and reducing distance to customers and spinning the Amazon flywheel!

Pioneer new ideas to increase speed and reduce delivery cost to customers.

Pilot and implement your recommendation in production through smart configurations in Amazon systems.

Develop the analytics required to visualize opportunities and measure progresses.

Partner with worldwide technical teams to develop new features

About The Team

The Supply Chain Placement team strives to fulfill customer orders with maximum speed, quality, cost-efficiency, and minimal carbon impact. We achieve this by strategically positioning inventory in optimal fulfillment centers. Partnering with North American Supply Chain Optimization Technology (SCOT), Transportation, Network Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), and Finance teams, we integrate bottom-up and top-down data into analytical network connectivity models. Collaborating with Supply Chain Execution (SCE) and Science partners, we enhance volume allocation across the US inbound fulfillment network, ensuring efficient, sustainable, and high-quality order fulfillment to meet customer demands effectively.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
• Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
• Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
• Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab
• Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift
• Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
