Amazon Freight is a startup business within Amazon focused on developing an industry-leading transportation offering to provide external freight Customers access to the world-class network and freight services currently used to facilitate Amazon’s own freight movements. Our freight offerings/portfolio ensures our Customer’s freight is moved with the highest level of service and quality at a competitive price across multiple modes of transportation, including truckload, less-than-truckload, and intermodal. In doing this, Amazon is deeply studying customer shipping needs and building innovative, market-leading solutions that will organically attract customers towards our services.

We are seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer who is passionate about leveraging data to deliver actionable insights for Amazon Freight. Our ideal candidate is someone who has strong technical and analytical skills, enjoys building a new business and the ambiguity that comes with that. Key job responsibilities
· Generate insightful analysis, reporting, and data visualizations to answer critical business questions, proactively identify notable trends, and communicate business performance
· Translate data into actionable insights for stakeholders while proactively identifying new areas of opportunity to drive further improvements
· Apply expertise in data mining and modeling leveraging multiple data sources to uncover unique insights, identify key performance drivers, and build predictive models
· Work backwards from your end-customer to define, design, and execute each work item with an emphasis on improved metrics, productivity, and efficiency
· Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance or equivalent quantitative field
- 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
- Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Master's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance or equivalent quantitative field
- 5+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
- Knowledge of advanced skills in Excel as well as any data visualization tools like Tableau or similar BI tools (familiarity with Tableau preferred)
- Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
- Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
