Amazon Logistics is seeking a smart and ambitious BI Engineer to develop and support BI and operations reporting for AMZL. You will work in a large data warehouse environment with cross-functional partners across Operations, HR, and Technology.

The role emphasizes designing scalable data pipelines, building end-user dashboards, and delivering actionable insights to improve delivery performance at scale.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years analyzing and interpreting data with relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience in data modeling, warehousing and ETL development.
  • Strong SQL skills and scripting in Python for data processing.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver end-to-end BI solutions.
  • Prioritize AMZL data and BI development needs with data engineers and engineers.

  • Lead and grow a team of BI Engineers and Analysts.

Amazon Logistics is looking for a smart and ambitious individual to develop and support Amazon Logistics business intelligence and operations reporting and management systems. Amazon Logistics is a large, rapidly growing package delivery operation, that handles packages for Amazon and our customers with worldwide operations. The potential candidate will support analysis, improvement and creation of metrics and dashboards on Amazon Logistics and Transportation by Amazon. In addition, she/he will work with internal customers at all levels of the organization – Operations, Customer service, HR, Technology, Operational Research, Health & Safety, Loss & Prevention. The potential candidate will enjoy the challenges and rewards of working in a fast-growing organization and a very international environment. As an Amazon Business Intelligence Engineer you will be working in one of the world's largest and most complex data warehouse environments. You should have deep expertise in the design, creation, management, and business use of extremely large datasets. You should have excellent business and communication skills to be able to work with business owners to develop and define key business questions, and to build data sets that answer those questions. You should be expert at designing, implementing, and operating stable, scalable, low cost solutions to flow data from production systems into the data warehouse and into end-user facing applications. You should be able to work with business customers in understanding the business requirements and implementing reporting solutions. Above all you should be passionate about bringing large datasets together to answer business questions and drive change.

Key job responsibilities
  • Partner with internal stakeholders across multiple teams, gathering requirements and delivering end to end solutions
  • Partner with Data Engineering and Software Development Engineers to prioritize and define AMZL data and BI development needs
  • Work with in-house scientists, global supply chain, transportation and logistics teams to identify new BI capabilities and projects
  • Lead and develop a team of Business Intelligence Engineers and Business Analysts
  • Conduct deep dive investigations into operations execution and business problems, identify opportunities, and lead or support implementation (role varies by opportunity)
  • Analyze and visualize large scale geo-spatial logistics and transaction data to articulate user behavior or delivery process problems, and output solid analysis report with recommendation.
  • Serve as liaison between the WW Planning and Analytics team and the operations business teams to achieve the goal of providing actionable insights into current delivery performance, and ad hoc investigations into future improvements or innovations. This will require data gathering and manipulation, synthesis and modeling, problem solving, and communication of insights and recommendations
  • Develop queries and visualizations for ad-hoc requests and projects, as well as ongoing reporting
About The Team

This role is within Amazon Logistics (AMZL) ORBIT (Operations Reporting, Business Intelligence, and Technology) team. This team works as an integral part of AMZL worldwide to ensure that its business intelligence and analytics needs are met. By providing information, insight, and decision support, we strive to enable success of all parts of AMZL. Our customer set includes senior management, station operations, DSP management, Flex management, long-term planning, Ops technology (Voice of the Delivery Station, Voice of the Customer), network planning, and pretty much every BI and Ops teams in AMZL.

Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab
  • Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance or equivalent quantitative field
  • Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
  • Experience with forecasting and statistical analysis

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
