Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain data solutions within Microsoft Fabric.
  • Create and maintain enterprise reporting solutions, dashboards, KPIs, and self-service analytics in Power BI.
  • Design, publish, and maintain scalable semantic models for enterprise reporting.
  • Develop and optimize SQL-based data transformations, structures, and reporting datasets.
  • Build and support data integration processes between enterprise applications and analytics platforms.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable reporting solutions.
  • Ensure reporting solutions align with data governance, security, and compliance standards.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data refreshes, pipelines, semantic models, and reporting solutions.
  • Manage Power BI workspaces, applications, security access, deployments, and usage monitoring.
  • Participate in enterprise data architecture initiatives and analytics platform strategy.
  • Work with users across multiple business functions to improve reporting capabilities and data accessibility.
  • Maintain version control for BI and data assets using established processes and tools.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
  • Stay current on Fabric, Power BI, and analytics best practices.

Position Summary

As a Business Intelligence Engineer at Balchem, you will play a key role in the company's enterprise analytics strategy by designing, developing, and supporting modern data and reporting solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Power BI. You will help transform data from a variety of business systems into trusted, actionable insights through governed semantic models, dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions.

The Business Intelligence Engineer will work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable analytics solutions that support data‑driven decision making across the organization. This role contributes to the development of enterprise reporting capabilities, data integration processes, analytics platforms, and self‑service reporting solutions. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical skills, business acumen, and a passion for solving complex data and reporting challenges. This role requires the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively across business and IT teams.

Essential Functions
  • Design, develop, and maintain data solutions within Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouses, Warehouses, Data Pipelines, Notebooks, and Semantic Models.
  • Create and maintain enterprise reporting solutions, dashboards, KPIs, and self‑service analytics capabilities using Power BI.
  • Design, publish, and maintain scalable semantic models to support enterprise reporting and analytics.
  • Develop and optimize SQL‑based data transformations, data structures, and reporting datasets.
  • Build and support data integration processes between enterprise applications and analytics platforms.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable reporting and analytics solutions.
  • Ensure reporting solutions align with company data governance, security, and compliance standards.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data refreshes, data pipelines, semantic models, and reporting solutions.
  • Manage Power BI workspaces, applications, security access, deployments, and usage monitoring.
  • Participate in enterprise data architecture initiatives and contribute to analytics platform strategy.
  • Work with users and team members across multiple business functions to improve reporting capabilities and data accessibility.
  • Maintain and version control all BI and data engineering assets including Power BI reports, semantic models, SQL scripts, notebooks, and data pipelines using established source control processes and tools.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, solution designs, and operational support procedures.
  • Stay current on Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Data Engineering, and Analytics best practices and recommend improvements where appropriate.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field with at least 3 years' experience.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively engage both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Power BI development, administration, semantic modeling, and deployment.
  • Strong SQL skills including complex queries, views, stored procedures, data transformations, and performance tuning.
  • Strong experience building semantic models, data models, and enterprise reporting solutions.
  • Strong DAX and Power Query skills.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric and modern analytics platforms.
  • Experience with data integration, ETL/ELT processes, and analytics solution development.
  • Experience designing and supporting enterprise‑scale reporting environments.
  • Experience with Fabric technologies including lakehouses, warehouses, data pipelines, notebooks, and semantic models.
  • Experience working with large datasets and multiple data sources.
  • Experience supporting enterprise reporting and analytics initiatives across multiple business functions.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and analytics architecture.
  • Knowledge of enterprise data governance, security, and compliance practices.
  • Experience with PySpark, Spark SQL, or related data engineering technologies is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
