Job description

Your job is to turn data into decisions. Hollingsworth & Vose is a global specialty manufacturer with mill operations across the Americas, Europe, and Asia — and the people running those operations, from the mill floor to senior management, need numbers they can trust and analytics they can act on. You build those.

A dashboard is not the outcome. The outcome is a plant manager who catches a margin problem a month earlier, or a finance team that stops arguing about whose number is right. We measure this role by results that matter to the business, not by reports shipped. Trust is the product — you treat it that way.

This is also a role for someone who wants to build with AI, not just read about it. We are embedding AI into how IT delivers — natural-language access to data, automated insights, AI-assisted development — and this role sits at the center of that work.

What You Own

  • Analytics people rely on. Power BI dashboards and reports covering trend, variance, cost, and margin analysis — with drill-through, drill-down, parameters, and dynamic filtering that let people answer their own next question.
  • Semantic models that hold up. Accurate models, measures, and KPIs. Multi-site, multi-currency, imperial/metric — handled correctly, to our site and item naming conventions, every time. If two reports disagree, that’s your problem to run down.
  • The data behind the numbers. Strong SQL against Oracle EBS and our MES database to source, validate, and shape data. You verify before you publish — and when a number is wrong, “the source data was bad” is where your job starts, not where it ends.
  • The sales cube. Develop against our central SSAS multidimensional cube (live connection / MDX) for cross-ERP, multi-currency sales and margin analysis.
  • The existing SSRS estate. Maintain and rationalize current SSRS reports while the future state takes shape.
  • AI in production. Build AI features into Power BI and our internal applications — natural-language Q&A, automated insights, anomaly detection, AI-assisted workflows — and use AI tools daily in your own development.
  • The relationship. You listen first. You partner with stakeholders to understand the goal behind the question, and you deliver recommendations, not just charts. Nobody who depends on your work waits in the dark for a status update.
  • Trust in the numbers. Data accuracy, documentation, and version control. Done means running in production, validated against source, documented, and handed off.

The Environment You’ll Work In

We’re honest about this: it’s a real manufacturing systems landscape, not a greenfield. The craft here is turning a complex environment into analytics people trust — if that sounds like work worth doing, you’ll like it here.

  • Oracle E-Business Suite — OPM process and discrete manufacturing (recipes, batches, inventory, standard costing), AP/AR/GL, and order management, with significant in-house customization.
  • A manufacturing execution system (MES) — sales orders, machine utilization, mill cost, raw-material consumption, quality metrics, and production scheduling.
  • A central SSAS multidimensional sales cube aggregating data across ERP systems, with multi-currency and standard-vs-actual cost and margin analysis.
  • Reporting today is largely SSRS and Power BI; AI tooling is expanding rapidly.

Required

  • 3–5 years building analytical Power BI reports and dashboards — DAX, semantic modeling, performance tuning, row-level security.
  • Strong SQL with hands-on experience querying Oracle databases.
  • Experience consuming SSAS multidimensional cubes from Power BI, including MDX — not tabular/DAX only.
  • Hands-on use of AI tools in your development work (tool-agnostic), and a genuine interest in building AI features into reports and applications.
  • An analytical mindset — you interpret data, spot trends, and frame insight for decision‑making.
  • A strong communicator who partners well with non-technical stakeholders and works as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working on‑site at a manufacturing mill.

Preferred

  • Oracle E-Business Suite experience, especially OPM process manufacturing.
  • MES experience (Tieto TIPS a plus).
  • Manufacturing or process‑industry domain knowledge — costing, recipes, production and quality data.
  • Master data management (MDM) exposure — working with item, customer, or site master data across multiple systems, or contributing to data governance and standardization efforts.
  • Power Query / dataflows, paginated reports, or Microsoft Fabric experience.
