Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Business, Economics, Marketing, Information Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in competitive intelligence, knowledge management, market research, business analysis, or business development, preferably in a law firm, consulting, or professional services environment.
  • Strong analytical, research, and data management skills, with the ability to extract meaningful insights from complex datasets.
  • Familiarity with client relationship mapping, rankings and credential tracking, and market opportunity analyses.
  • Familiarity with CRM and experience databases common to the legal industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex research into clear, actionable summaries.
  • High attention to detail and strong project management skills; ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and collaborative approach to work.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, organize, and maintain critical business intelligence, including: matter descriptions, jurisdictional expertise, industry familiarity, and practice nuances.
  • Standardize and systematize the collection and maintenance of business intelligence across firm systems and platforms.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure business intelligence is actionable, current, and easily accessible.
  • Conduct competitive research and market trend analysis to inform business development strategies and practice planning.
  • Create visual dashboards, profiles, and reports summarizing intelligence insights to support decision-making.
  • Establish and maintain news and litigation alerts to track updates on clients, prospects, and industries of strategic interest.
  • Contribute to cross-practice and firmwide initiatives focused on strengthening the firm’s competitive positioning and market responsiveness.

Job description

The Business Intelligence Analyst will be instrumental in helping the firm collect, track, analyze, and deploy business intelligence to advance marketing and business development strategies.

The Analyst will drive the systematization and standardization of key business data and work to streamline the technology and repositories used to catalog and manage this intelligence. This work will directly support the firm’s efforts to strengthen client relationships, deepen market insights, and uncover new growth opportunities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary duties and responsibilities necessary for successful job performance include:

  1. Collect, organize, and maintain critical business intelligence, including:

o Experience Data: Matter descriptions, jurisdictional expertise, industry/sector familiarity, and practice nuances.

o Relationship Data: “Who-Knows-Whom”, referral sources, judges, co-counsel, opposing counsel, clients, prospects, alumni, and other key contacts.

o Rankings & Credentials: Firm and attorney rankings, awards, and specialized educational credentials.

o Industry trends affecting current and prospective clients and target sectors.

o White Space Analysis: Underdeveloped or emerging practice areas and client needs for targeted business development efforts.

  1. Standardize and systematize the collection and maintenance of business intelligence across firm systems and platforms to enable efficient retrieval and analysis.

  2. Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure business intelligence is actionable, current, and easily accessible for marketing, client development, and strategic initiatives.

  3. Conduct competitive research and market trend analysis to inform business development strategies and practice planning.

  4. Create visual dashboards, profiles, and reports summarizing intelligence insights to support decision-making at the firm, practice group, and client team levels.

  5. Establish and maintain news and litigation alerts to track updates on clients, prospects, and industries of strategic interest.

  6. Contribute to cross-practice and firmwide initiatives focused on strengthening the firm’s competitive positioning and market responsiveness.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  1. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Business, Economics, Marketing, Information Science, or a related field.
