Qualifications

• Master’s in business or related field required.
• Bachelor’s in business with Master’s in economics or JD/LL.B as alternative.
• Equivalent qualifications considered with proper documentation.
• Valid CC credential in the discipline, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Interview selected applicants to establish a pool of approved instructors.
• Teach part-time Business Education Division courses as assignments arise.
• Possibly teach Dual Enrollment courses at local high schools with college credits.

Education

Master’s in business, business management, business administration, accountancy, finance, marketing or business education

Bachelor’s in business, business management, business administration, accountancy, finance, marketing or business education AND Master’s in economics, personnel management, public administration, or Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) or LL.B.

Bachelor’s in economics with a business emphasis AND Master’s in economics, personnel management, public administration, or Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) or LL.B.

Job description

Selected applicants will be interviewed to establish a pool of approved Business instructors for possible part-time teaching assignments in the Business Education Division. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for Business (see below).

Assignments may be Dual Enrollment courses in the North County of San Luis Obispo. Dual Enrollment courses are taught at local high schools, where students simultaneously enrolled in both High school and College credits.

To be considered for the Business discipline

Required:

• Master’s in business, business management, business administration, accountancy, finance, marketing or business education from an accredited institution;
• Bachelor’s in business, business management, business administration, accountancy, finance, marketing or business education from an accredited institution AND Master’s in economics, personnel management, public administration, or Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.) from an accredited institution;
• Bachelor’s in economics with a business emphasis from an accredited institution AND Master’s in economics, personnel management, public administration, or Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.) from an accredited institution;
• The equivalent. (Candidates applying on the basis of equivalency must submit all materials requested for an equivalency judgment. For directions on what is an acceptable equivalency argument please review the requirements listed on the HR Website or see further information on Equivalency Petition Process Information below.)
• A valid Community College credential in the discipline (If received prior to 1990, as the credential is no longer being issued).
• Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
• Desirable: Teaching experience in the discipline, community college level preferred;
• Awareness of the philosophy and objectives of California Community Colleges.
