Job description

Helping Business Thrive

Most business owners aren't thinking about financing. They're thinking about payroll, hiring, a large contract, or a new market. Funding is rarely the goal — it's the tool that makes those outcomes possible. That's what makes this role different. You're not selling money. You're helping established business owners create growth, flexibility, and opportunity. If you can slow a conversation down, understand what someone is really trying to accomplish, and help them evaluate the right path forward, this is where you come in.

About Coast Funding

Coast Funding is The Smarter Alternative for established small and mid-sized businesses that want capital structured the right way. Our clients have options. They choose Coast for the quality of the relationship, the discipline of our underwriting, and our commitment to responsible funding that supports growth rather than creating additional burden.

We were named a 2025 and 2026 Best Place to Work in San Diego by the San Diego Business Journal, and we are a 100% employee-owned company. Our culture is fast-paced, collaborative, technology-forward, and data-driven, built on a simple idea: we are an advisory firm that funds businesses, not a sales floor that processes applications. We coach, learn, and improve together — and we believe that those who stop being better, stop being good.

The Role

As a Business Funding Advisor, you'll speak directly with business owners and decision-makers nationwide by phone. Through consultative conversations, you'll uncover their goals, cash flow needs, and growth opportunities, then help them choose the funding program that fits.

This is a full-time, phone-based sales role for someone who treats sales as a craft, values clear and transparent communication, and wants to build lasting client relationships.

A Day in the Life
  • Advise, don't pitch. Hold consultative conversations with roughly 10 business owners and decision-makers a day, adapting to questions, objections, and resistance.
  • Work a balanced pipeline. Expect about five warm, qualified inbound opportunities daily, plus a disciplined outbound cadence of about 75 outreach attempts into a defined book of business.
  • Recommend the right solution. Match each client to the program that best fits their goals: Business Line of Credit, working capital, term loan, equipment financing, receivables financing, Swell (our online funding program), or a partner solution such as an SBA program.
  • Own the close. Structure approvals within underwriting guidelines and help clients make informed, responsible funding decisions. Own your pipeline.
  • Run your business. Manage your pipeline in Salesforce CRM with the same discipline you bring to client conversations.
  • Keep sharpening your craft. Grow through coaching, peer learning, self-driven development, and collaboration with leadership and training teams.

Expect objections on pricing, timing, and competing options. The Advisors who succeed stay coachable, keep asking good questions, and stay consultative when it would be easier to become transactional.

Who Thrives Here
  • You treat sales as a craft. You know the difference between pitching and advising, and you prefer advising.
  • You finish what you start. When you miss a goal, you know why and what you're doing about it. When you win, you know how to repeat it. Your pipeline, start to finish.
  • You build relationships, not deal counts. You earn trust through credibility and consistency, and you build a renewable book of business that compounds over time.
  • You're committed to getting better. You're coachable, curious, and open to feedback.
  • You play the long game. You stay positive and professional regardless of how the last call went.
  • You win as a team. You value collaboration, accountability, and shared success over individual recognition.
What You Bring
  • 2+ years of success in a quota-carrying, phone-based sales role, with a track record of closing your own deals, exceeding quota.
  • Confidence holding substantive conversations with business owners.
  • Exceptional communication and listening skills.
  • Resilience in the face of objections and a strong work ethic.
  • A genuine appetite for coaching, feedback, and growth.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strongly preferred: consultative B2B sales experience, especially selling outcomes rather than products (financing, insurance, payment processing, banking, or business services), plus experience with Salesforce CRM, AI tools, and data-driven sales environments.

If you’re looking for a high-volume telesales seat, a get-rich-quick opportunity, or a pure pitch-and-dial environment, this isn’t the right fit.

Compensation and Benefits
  • $60,000–$70,000 base salary plus uncapped commission
  • Most Advisors earn $100,000–$150,000 in their first year; top performers consistently exceed that through production growth and repeat business
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off — weekends and holidays are yours
  • Comprehensive training, ongoing coaching, and a clear path for career advancement
  • Ownership in a 100% employee-owned company
Location

This is a full-time, 100% in-office position at our headquarters, 4350 Executive Drive, Suite 305, San Diego, CA. Advisors sell nationwide by phone while working alongside leadership and teammates. This role is not eligible for remote or hybrid work.

Next Steps

Our hiring process has three steps: a brief introductory conversation, a sales-specific competency questionnaire, and a final in-person interview.

Coast Funding is an Equal Opportunity Employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, including California employment regulations. We are committed to an inclusive workplace and make employment decisions based on qualifications, merit, and business needs.
