Job description

DEPARTMENT: Business, Accounting and Economics Department

POSITION TYPE: Faculty (50-100% FTE)

START DATE: Summer 2026

PURPOSE OF POSITION:Teach courses and serve as a faculty member in the Business, Accounting and Economics Department. All areas of specialization will be considered, with special consideration given to candidates with specializations in finance, accounting or one of the following areas: management, marketing, insurance and risk, supply chain logistics, or construction management. Dordt faculty advance the Christian mission of the university through contributions to teaching and scholarship, student recruitment and retention, campus and community service, and ongoing professional and program development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach a variety of courses (fall, spring, summer) related to the candidate’s area of expertise in Dordt University’s Business programs. Teaching assignments will include primary assignment in the undergraduate program teaching in a face-to-face format, with the possibility of some online teaching in the undergraduate and/or MBA programs.
  • Participate as a full team member in department and university administrative tasks, including student recruiting and advising, curriculum development and program review, assessment, committee assignments, and accreditation processes.
  • Participate in the Core program and campus life of Dordt University.
  • Develop and implement a personal annual contribution and professional development plan consistent with university and departmental goals; use the plan as part of regular self-assessment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Clear understanding of and personal commitment to a Reformed Biblical perspective and the mission of Dordt University, and ability to articulate how this Christian perspective shapes the teaching and practice of business, financing, or accounting.
  • Express an active Christian commitment, which shall include affiliation with a local, confessionally Reformed congregation that actively supports the mission of Dordt University.
  • Personal endorsement of The Educational Task of DordtUniversity and commitment to the curricular design set forth in The Educational Framework of DordtUniversity.
  • A master’s degree in business administration or related field is required; for teaching in the MBA, a doctorate is preferred.
  • Industry or work experience in the candidate’s field of expertise is required.
  • Experience in teaching is preferred. The successful candidate will collaborate alongside a

visionary faculty and teach using curricular and pedagogical best practices. A commitment to excellence in college-level teaching, including curriculum design, classroom management, and ongoing student learning assessment is required.

  • Oral and written communication skills and interpersonal abilities that enable effective collaboration with students, faculty and staff, community members, and other professionals.
