Job summary

Solvay is seeking a Business Development & Sales Manager for Rare Earth & Specialty Chemical Solutions to grow revenue across North America. You will serve as the primary commercial interface with magnet manufacturers, alloy producers, recyclers, OEMs, and key stakeholders, leading strategic partnerships and long-term supply agreements.

You will collaborate with R&D, product management, operations, and supply chain to qualify products, accelerate commercialization, and expand Solvay's footprint

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Chemistry, Chemical Eng, Materials Science or related technical field.
  • 7+ years in sales, business development, or account management in chemical or magnet industries.
  • Experience in industrial manufacturing and material qualification processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies to grow market share and revenue in rare earth and permanent magnet markets.
  • Manage strategic accounts, negotiate terms, and forecast sales.
  • Collaborate with R&D, product management, operations, and supply chain.
  • Identify new opportunities through market analysis and customer engagement.

And of course, in your ideas to improve lives while preserving our planet’s beauty for the generations to come.About the roleOur Business Development team focuses on identifying growth opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and expanding Solvay's presence in high-growth markets.As a Business Development & Sales Manager – Rare Earth & Specialty Chemical Solutions, you will be responsible for developing, promoting, and selling specialty chemical solutions used in the manufacture of permanent magnets and magnetic materials across North America. In this role, you will serve as the primary commercial interface between customers and Solvay, driving revenue growth while developing long-term strategic partnerships throughout the rare earth and magnetic materials value chain. You will collaborate closely with customers, R&D, product management, operations, and supply chain teams to identify opportunities, support commercialization activities, and accelerate growth in markets such as electric vehicles, renewable energy, electronics, industrial motors, aerospace, and defense.This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to technologies that support electrification, sustainability, and next-generation manufacturing while helping shape Solvay’s growth strategy in a rapidly evolving industry.You will be accountable for:Develop and execute business development strategies to grow market share and revenue within the rare earth and permanent magnet industryBuild and maintain strategic relationships with magnet manufacturers, alloy producers, recyclers, OEMs, and key industry stakeholdersIdentify new business opportunities through market analysis, competitive intelligence, and customer engagement activitiesCollaborate with internal teams to support product qualification, commercialization efforts, and customer technical requirementsManage strategic accounts, commercial negotiations, sales forecasts, and long-term supply agreements to achieve business objectivesWe offer at-will employment based in the United States with a remote working model and travel requirements of approximately 30-50% throughout North America, along with occasional international travel to company locations.About youBachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or a related technical discipline.Minimum of 7 years of sales, business development, account management, or commercial experience within the chemical, specialty materials, rare earth, advanced materials, or magnet industries.Experience working within industrial manufacturing environments and familiarity with material qualification processes. The base pay expected for this role is: $129,000-$161,000 per year in the United States.
