Job description

Business Development Representative (BDR)
The Organization

What if K-12 education were designed to help all students develop lives of meaning and purpose? Wayfinder, a division of Lemnis, was founded at the Stanford d.school to answer this question. Our goal is to double our impact each year for the coming years. Our vision is to become the preeminent future-readiness curriculum company in the world — leading the global movement of purpose, meaning, and belonging-based education worldwide.

Wayfinder joined the Lemnis Collective as a nonprofit division in 2026. As a public charity, Lemnis is dedicated to the concept of the unlimited learner. Their mission is to create more accessible, flexible, learner-centered systems that help young people navigate the challenges and opportunities of the future. Wayfinder and Lemnis share that vision, especially when it comes to supporting learners in underserved communities and the institutions that serve them.

Wayfinder is the third organization to join the Lemnis Collective. The Collective brings mission-aligned organizations (both for-profit assets and nonprofits with earned revenue) under the Lemnis umbrella through mergers and acquisitions. Lemnis provides long-term, mission-driven investment, stability, freedom from the pressure of constant fundraising, and operational and strategic support, so organizations like Wayfinder can stay focused on our mission, impact, growth, and innovation.

What We Value

You’ll be joining a team of incredibly motivated and dedicated staff members committed to living our organization's values. We work collaboratively across teams, and we feel and act like a purpose-driven organization . To the best of our abilities, each person’s role aligns with their own sense of purpose, which feeds into Wayfinder’s larger sense of purpose.

We value access, equity, diversity, and belonging, and these values are represented in our product, our team, and our school partners.

Product: We develop our learning tools using human-centered design principles. We work with grade-level experts to ensure our curriculum is developmentally appropriate and engaging at all levels. Every Wayfinder lesson is supported by relevant research, prototyped in classrooms, and vetted by teachers over rounds of feedback and iteration. We use Universal Design for Learning principles to give every student an equal opportunity to succeed.

Team: Our team is composed of people from all different backgrounds and walks of life. We intentionally recruit, hire, and work with people of diverse identities + experiences. We focus on belonging: being connected, accepted, and valued by the people around us.

School Partners: We intentionally target a wide array of educational partners, from traditional to non-traditional, that work with a range of students from different socioeconomic groups. We’ve taught our curriculum in high-need schools in the Bronx, independent schools in Silicon Valley, and after-school programs in San Antonio.

The Role

Wayfinder is seeking an Outreach Coordinator (also known as BDR) to lead inbound + outbound sales prospecting and pipeline generation. This role focuses on identifying, engaging, and qualifying new leads, building industry and product knowledge, and sparking meaningful conversations with prospective partners. You’ll work in the early stages of the sales funnel—preparing qualified prospects for handoff to a closer or assessing readiness to adopt Wayfinder’s curriculum.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in business development and education. You’ll engage with education leaders, nurture relationships, and support sales enablement efforts. The ideal candidate brings a collaborative learner’s mindset, a strong understanding of public school systems, and curiosity about education at scale. You’re relationship-driven, persistent, detail-oriented, and adaptable—comfortable balancing external outreach with internal operational work in a growing organization.

Please note, this role will require some travel for conferences.

We strongly encourage people from traditionally underrepresented populations in tech - such as women, People of Color, People with Disabilities, and LGBTQ+ people, etc - to apply!

Responsibilities
  • Represent Wayfinder’s products and services by developing a strong understanding of our K–12 solutions and conducting market research to align offerings with the needs of school districts.
  • Generate leads and build relationships by nurturing warm prospects and identifying new potential partners across districts nationwide.
  • Manage and maintain a sales pipeline by engaging prospects through each stage of the sales journey, from initial outreach to next steps and handoff to sales executives.
  • Utilize sales tools and outreach strategies including Salesforce, Outreach.io, cold emailing and calling, and objection handling to create high-quality sales opportunities.
  • Articulate Wayfinder’s value propositions clearly and persuasively in written and verbal communication to overcome objections and secure meetings with district decision-makers.
Requirements
  • Relevant Experience: Bachelor’s degree or 2–5 years of relevant professional experience, including 1–2 years in sales or business development with a track record of exceeding lead generation targets.
  • Outreach & Sales Skills: Experience with cold calling, follow-up, and objection handling; energized by persistent outreach and securing meetings with hard-to-reach stakeholders.
  • Relationship Building: Proven ability to build trust and engage effectively with high-level school district administrators through a warm, curious, and professional presence.
  • Communication Excellence: Strong, polished written and verbal communication skills across phone, Slack, and email.
  • Creative Problem Solving: Resourceful, analytical thinker who enjoys finding creative solutions and navigating complex challenges.
  • Self-Starter Mentality: Thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment; adaptable, resilient, and comfortable navigating ambiguity independently.
  • Positive, Driven Mindset: Brings enthusiasm, persistence, and a “let’s figure it out” attitude while balancing changing priorities with steady execution.
Preferred experience
  • EdTech and K-12 Education: Prior experience or demonstrated interest in the EdTech sector and/or K-12 education.
  • CRM Proficiency: Experience working with Salesforce or other CRM software.
Compensation

Salary range: $60,000 to $65,000, plus commission for meetings booked and held.

We offer a competitive package that is based on location and experience. We also offer the following benefits:

  • 403b: We care about your ability to save for your future.
  • Family Focus: Parental leave and flexibility for families.
  • Time Off: Unlimited PTO policy to encourage people to get out and see the world.
  • Healthcare: Medical, dental, and vision policies + a monthly wellness stipend.
  • Goodies: Whatever hardware and software you need to get the job done.
  • Team Fun: Regularly scheduled events, annual retreat, and celebrations.
  • Learning: Learning & Development Opportunities to grow your skills and career.
  • Great team: Working with fun, hard-working, kind people committed to making a difference!
  • Flexible culture: We are results-focused and entirely remote.
