Job description

Sierra Space Careers: At Sierra Space, we build the missions and systems that keep our world secure in the domain above Earth. Sierra Space team members share a spirit of innovation and collaboration and a belief that we can deliver on the boldest missions in space today. Together with our customers, we aim to safeguard our nation, sustain human presence in space, and secure the freedom of operations in low Earth orbit and beyond. Our success is measured by the trust of those who rely on what we build and deliver, and our technologies keep the United States and its allies mission‑ready throughout space. We are mission-driven, and together, we are an extraordinary team.

About the Role

This role is a project management position, responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of projects, ensuring that all project objectives and deliverables are met on time and within budget. This role involves managing project activities, coordinating resources, and maintaining comprehensive project documentation. The position requires advanced project coordination and administrative skills, and the ability to integrate internal efforts and coordinate cross‑functional teams. Strong communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills are essential for success in this role.

As our Business Development Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence and supporting the Business Development team as they expand Sierra Space’s presence in the commercial space and defense sectors. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Business Development, you will be responsible for streaming processes, managing key tools and metrics, and ensuring seamless coordination across the team. Your primary responsibilities will include managing Sierra Space’s CRM and orders forecasting tools, collaborating with Finance on quarterly performance reporting, and maintaining critical metrics such as win/loss rates, projections, and performance against plan. You will also develop content for monthly leadership reviews, oversee the new business process to ensure timely approvals, and support the creation of strategic management documents. Additionally, you will manage the team’s cadences – coordinating weekly staff meetings, pipeline reviews, monthly performance reviews, and quarterly reviews. You will centrally track business development engagements, including customer visits, conferences, and events, while also coordinating Sierra Space’s industry association plan. This role will require you to manage new business and overhead budgets and oversee the tools utilized by the team to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in pursuing growth opportunities.

  • Advanced project coordination and administrative skills.
  • Solid understanding of project management methodologies and processes.
  • Ability to integrate internal efforts and coordinate cross‑functional teams.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive experience with project management software such as Microsoft Project, Asana, or Trello.
  • Proficiency in advanced project management tools and techniques, including Gantt charts, critical path method (CPM), and earned value management (EVM).
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience with risk management and quality assurance control.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, with a focus on meeting deadlines and delivering high‑quality results.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate cross‑functional teams.
Compensation

Pay Range: $111,285.00 - $153,015.75. Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis and may vary based on job‑related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.
