Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, promotions and advertising or related field.
  • Three years of combined marketing, promotions, advertising and/or business development experience.
  • Two years minimum cold calling experience in B2B sales.
  • Five years financial services or sales experience preferred.

Responsibilities

JOB TITLE: Business Development Officer

REPORTS TO: AVP of Operations

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Responsible for generating measurable membership, deposit, loan, and partnership growth through business development and sales activities.

Essential Functions
  • Generate new membership, loan, and deposit opportunities through proactive business development activities including prospecting, networking, referrals, cold calling, and outbound outreach.
  • Meet or exceed established monthly, quarterly, and annual goals for membership growth, loan production, deposit acquisition, and partner development.
  • Maintain consistent prospecting activity through scheduled calls, visits, networking events, presentations, and follow-up meetings.
  • Track all sales activities, opportunities, contacts, and outcomes within designated reporting systems. Track and communicate efficacy and return on investment on development strategies.
  • Represent TFCU at community events, business functions, trade shows, sponsorships, and networking opportunities to generate leads and strengthen brand awareness.
  • At the direction of Operations Leadership manage all activities related to events including planning, execution, and social media presence.
  • Establish and administer an annual Business Development budget.
  • In Partnership with Branch Leaders, create and provide recommendations on an annual business development plan including community activities and promotional campaigns.
  • Abide by state and federal banking regulations. Attend training sessions and complete compliance training on an annual basis. Maintain member and TFCU privacy and confidentiality.
Other Duties/Responsibilities
  • Create and deliver informational presentations at staff meetings as assigned.
  • Manage marketing supply inventory to fulfill event needs including ordering and sorting.
  • Compile financial information and marketing data for analysis.
  • Assist in creating the monthly business development report for the Board of Directors.
  • Assist in writing copy and proofreading marketing materials.
  • Gain and retain a high-level knowledge of all TFCU products, policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to TFCU’s attendance and punctuality policy.
  • Maintain a professional businesslike appearance in accordance with TFCU’s dress code policy.
  • Engage in behavior that aligns with the credit union’s cultural beliefs.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Education

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, promotions and advertising or a related field preferred.

Experience
  • Three (3) years of combined marketing, promotions, advertising and/or business development experience required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of cold calling experience with responsibilities in business to business (B2B) sales required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years financial services or sales experience preferred.
Qualifications
  • Ability to work under pressure with time constraints and within deadlines.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills and ability to speak in front of large groups of people.
  • Excellent and effective organizational skills.
  • Ability to frequently travel to off-site promotions, functions, presentations, events.

Must have a valid current driver’s license.

  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite products, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using contact management software.
  • Understanding of marketing/advertising principles and concepts.
  • Ability to work outside in a variety of temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Ability to speak and write Spanish (preferred).
Availability

Variable five (5) day workweek, with the ability to work weekends, holidays and off-hours when required. Frequently works offsite and will need to maintain contact via phone, email or other electronic channels.

Physical Demands
  • Sit, stand, walk and bend: While performing the duties of this job, this position is regularly required to sit, stand and walk about inside the office.
  • Use of hands/fingers: To operate a computer, keyboard, mouse and other office machinery such as but not limited to; a calculator, copy machine and printer. Additionally, this position is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms.
  • Speech/hearing: This position frequently communicates via phone and in person. Must be able to talk to/hear members and staff.
  • Lifting: The ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. is required for this position.
