Business Development Manager- Medical Device (Remote)

SUMMARY:

The Business Development Manager (North America) will be responsible for driving growth within the Medical Products Safety Compliance division. This role combines strategic market analysis with hands-on sales execution to acquire new clients and expand relationships with existing ones. Reporting to the Global Business Development Manager, the position requires strong knowledge of regulatory markets, proven business development skills, and the ability to translate client needs into actionable opportunities for TÜV Rheinland.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and implement sales and business development plans specifically for North American markets in alignment with the organization’s overarching goals in the medical device sector.
  • Analyze market trends, regulatory changes, and emerging client needs to identify business opportunities.
  • Provide strategic input to product and service development based on client needs and market demands.
  • Develop and qualify new leads for medical device services.
  • Maintain thorough and detailed knowledge of TÜV Rheinland’s services in order to communicate them to potential clients.
  • Determine and implement marketing strategies to increase business. Analyze and research market data and trends to identify markets for new clients; review market conditions and direction; create marketing plans; and develop understanding of target clients’ business perspectives and issues.
  • Utilize a variety of sales techniques including cold calls, trade show leads, network connections, and industry contacts. Promote TÜV Rheinland services through the identification and development of new growth and business opportunities through acquisition of new clients or through additional revenues from existing clients.
  • Make calls, have face-to-face meetings, and develop and deliver sales presentations to various levels of potential client management.
  • Recruit, quote, negotiate the terms of agreement, and close new business deals. Will have goals/quotas to fulfill and will be evaluated on the achievement/failure of these goals.
  • Update the CRM to capture all business development activities related to customer contacts, activities, and contractual agreements.
  • Develop and maintain contacts and prospect lists to expand industry awareness of TÜV Rheinland services and generate new business.
  • Act as liaison with client and other TÜV Rheinland staff including sales team, technical staff, and other domestic or international offices as necessary. Coordinate with internal functions (Engineering, Auditing, Inspection, etc.) to ensure technical capacity and capabilities for service delivery. Ensure customer satisfaction is achieved.
  • Provide reporting to management that shows sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion.
  • Expand knowledge of industry as well as competitive posture of the company.
  • Travel to and participate in various trade shows as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge, Skill, & Abilities:

  • Strong negotiation, sales strategy, and pipeline management skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex regulatory markets and translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Highly organized with excellent project management and multitasking capabilities.
  • Must be articulate, professional, and be customer service oriented.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Must have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, work effectively under pressure, prioritize, and multi-task.
  • Must have excellent analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures as well as business practices and product information.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce). Ability to travel a significant amount of time. May include international travel. Valid Passport and Driver’s License required.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Experience:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in medical device or Biotech industry.
  • Knowledge of the medical device testing process and the role of industry research including, but not limited to: EMC, FDA, Safety compliance testing.
  • Knowledge of medical quality management system standards and regulations: ISO 13485, MDSAP, EU MDR, UK MDR; 61010, 62638, 17025, 60601-1 and -2.
  • Willingness and ability for up to 50% travel, both domestically and internationally, to meet client and company priorities.
