Business Development Manager - Deepwater

Clariant is seeking a highly skilled Business Development Manager - Deepwater to lead growth initiatives within our Gulf of America Deepwater Sales Team, with a specific focus on the offshore production chemicals market. This role is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities while strengthening strategic relationships with key offshore operators. Success in this role requires strong, hands-on experience in deepwater offshore production chemistry-either through direct involvement in chemical service delivery, sales, or technical support in offshore environments. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of offshore oil and gas production operations, combined with the commercial acumen to drive revenue growth and expand Clariant's footprint in this highly specialized and competitive market. This is a remote position with regional travel up to 30-40%, primarily within the Gulf Coast. Responsibilities

• Identify and secure new business opportunities in the offshore chemicals market, with a focus on technical differentiation and strategic positioning
• Develop and implement structured call plans targeting all levels of customer organizations—from field engineers to executive leadership—to build influence and close deals
• Build strong, long-term partnerships with both new and existing customers, effectively introducing Clariant’s innovative chemistry and technology solutions to enhance customer value
• Navigate highly competitive markets by leveraging Clariant’s technical strengths to win business
• Partner with District Managers, technical teams, and sales support to ensure alignment on customer needs, proposals, and service execution
• Actively participate in industry events, conferences, and client meetings to elevate Clariant’s market presence and stay informed of market developments
• Maintain a robust opportunity pipeline using CRM tools, and provide regular reporting on progress, challenges, and evolving market dynamics
• Organize and execute strategic customer engagements and entertainment activities in alignment with Clariant’s call planning and business development goals
• Maintain a strong focus on converting pipeline opportunities into revenue through clear value communication, solution positioning, and disciplined follow-up

Requirements


• Bachelor’s Degree or 10 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
• Minimum 10 years in the offshore/deepwater oil & gas industry with a preference for oilfield chemical services
• Experience in offshore production chemistry strongly preferred
• Proven ability to navigate complex sales cycles and influence decision-makers
• Willingness to travel regionally (30–40%)
• Applicants located in Louisiana or Houston are strongly encouraged to apply, as proximity to key clients and offshore operations is highly valued for this role
