Role Overview
As a Business Developer, you will generate new business opportunities and lead the pursuit of high‑value engagements. Your role includes prospecting, strategizing, leading pursuit teams, closing new business, and representing the firm at events.
Responsibilities
- Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities by engaging with key business leaders, attending industry events, and building relationships with prospective clients.
- Lead and execute outreach strategies, including prospecting, developing contact plans, and organizing meetings to uncover client needs where the firm can add value.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement pursuit strategies, participate in proposal development, and ensure alignment with firm growth objectives.
- Maintain accurate records of business development activities in the firm’s CRM system and prepare management reports on sales performance, client wins, and outreach efforts.
- Represent the firm at targeted association functions, trade shows, and networking events to enhance visibility and promote the firm’s services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CBDM) are highly valued.
- 7–10 years of experience in business development, sales, or client relationship management within accounting, consulting, or professional services environments.
- Demonstrated success selling $750,000 or more in annual first‑year fees.
- Ability to develop a prospect list, build a pipeline of opportunities, and close business.
- Accurately forecast pipeline and identify additional revenue opportunities.
- Build strong relationships within the firm and teams through quality work and leadership.
- Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to identify market opportunities and build lasting client partnerships.
- Familiarity with industry trends, regulatory requirements, and technology platforms such as CRM systems and cloud‑based accounting tools.
Other Information
This position may require local or national travel and is exempt, with hours that may exceed the standard 40‑hour work week.
Compensation range: $110,000.00 – $160,000.00. Actual pay will depend on responsibilities, experience, and geography.
