About The Role

WEG Electric Corp. has a great opportunity for a Business Development Manager, BESS. This position leads sales and business development activities for WEG's regional battery energy storage system (BESS) business in the Great Lakes/PJM region. The individual will be a key leader in the region, demonstrating experience in technical sales processes and capital-intensive engineered solutions where turn-key projects are involved.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Business Development: Act as the face of WEG-BESS to key customers, presenting capabilities and organizational strengths.
  • Project Capture: Generate sales leads, develop targeted campaigns, identify project opportunities, and negotiate contracts with the technical team.
  • Brand Building: Participate in conferences, publish technical papers, and share success stories to enhance WEG-BESS's reputation.
  • Proposal Development: Collaborate with application engineers and other disciplines to develop and deliver winning proposals.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Work internally to tailor solutions for competitive advantage and revenue growth.
  • Customer RFQ Review: Ensure project requirements are met and engage legal as needed.
  • Sales Targets: Achieve sales goals and manage other assigned duties.
  • Representation Management: Oversee regional representatives, ensuring performance and engagement.
  • Project Management: Oversee internal and external project execution.
  • Vendor/Partner Development: Identify and develop local vendors and partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant business experience, preferably with battery energy systems.
  • Proven experience in engineered sales and contract negotiations.
  • Knowledge of power generation markets, industry trends, and customer expectations.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with factory operations and engineering processes.
