Business Development Manager (Aerospace & Defense) for DEW Engineering

DEW Engineering and Development ULC (DEW Engineering) is a wholly owned subsidiary of CoorsTek, Inc. It designs and manufactures innovative products for global clients, providing services including design, testing, prototyping, development, and manufacturing for military and commercial customers.

The Business Development Manager will report to the VP, Commercial Defense, and be responsible for generating new business, maintaining client relationships, and supporting growth strategies within the aerospace and defense sectors.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities with existing and potential clients, building strong relationships with key contacts such as engineers, scientists, buyers, and managers.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of commercial opportunities across markets and accounts.
  • Explore and engage with new markets for ceramics, collaborating with regional leaders and strategic insights teams.
  • Drive new product development and growth activities, including defining customer requirements, acting as a technical liaison, and communicating needs across teams.
  • Support strategic decisions on growth investments, including R&D and capital equipment.
  • Create strategies to meet revenue and profitability goals, including negotiating contracts.
  • Stay informed on market trends and customer needs, fostering collaboration across sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams.
  • Promote DEW Engineering armor products through proactive sales, proposals, and industry participation.
  • Enhance company reputation via trade shows, advertising, and industry organizations.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Job Requirements
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Ceramics, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or related field preferred.
  • At least 7 years of technical sales experience, preferably in ceramics, composites armor, or advanced materials.
  • Experience working within the Defense industry, with knowledge of armor applications, threat levels, and customer demands.
  • Understanding of Department of Defense budgets and strategic planning related to defense contracts.
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong planning, negotiation, and account management skills.
  • Deep understanding of DEW Engineering products and market segments.
  • Financial acumen and ability to manage uncertain environments.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and cultural competency skills.
Role Specific Details
  • Preferred Locations: UK, Germany, Netherlands, Czechia, or other parts of Europe.
  • Languages: Fluent in English, French, and German preferred.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel >50% for client visits, trade shows, etc.
  • Security Clearance: Must be eligible for security clearance as required.
