Position Summary

The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for driving strategic growth across the professional salon channel through distributor partnerships, strategic account development, field activation, and education deployment. This role focuses on increasing sell-through, expanding market presence, strengthening professional relationships, and identifying scalable business opportunities that support long-term brand and revenue objectives.

The BDM will partner cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Education, Brand, and Field teams to execute growth strategies that elevate brand visibility, stylist engagement, account productivity, and professional loyalty within the salon industry.

This role combines strong commercial business acumen with strategic education support to ensure BBI Brands remain competitive, innovative, and highly engaged within the professional beauty space.

This position reports to the Sr Director of Business Development.

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Business Development & Channel Growth
  • Identify and execute strategic growth opportunities within professional salon, prestige retail, and distributor channels
  • Drive new account acquisition, account expansion, and increased productivity within existing salon and distributor partnerships
  • Develop and implement strategic territory and business growth plans aligned with company objectives
  • Partner with distributor leadership teams and sales consultants to increase market penetration, brand visibility, and sell-through performance
  • Identify white-space opportunities, emerging markets, and new revenue channels to support long-term business growth
  • Analyze market trends, competitive activity, and customer insights to adapt strategies and maximize opportunity
  • Monitor business performance metrics and field activity to evaluate effectiveness and optimize deployment strategies
  • Support forecasting, budget management, and ROI evaluation for business development initiatives, activations, and events
2. Distributor Partnerships & Strategic Account Development
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors, salon owners, stylists, and key industry professionals that strengthen brand loyalty, increase engagement, and drive account productivity
  • Support distributor growth initiatives through collaborative planning, field support, education deployment, and promotional activations
  • Partner with distributor teams to identify high-potential accounts and growth opportunities within assigned territories
  • Conduct regular business reviews and market recaps with leadership and key partners
  • Participate in trade shows, industry events, distributor meetings, and field activations to strengthen brand awareness and professional relationships
3. Field Activation & Strategic Education Support
  • Partner with Education teams to support strategic education initiatives designed to drive stylist engagement, product adoption, and sales conversion
  • Support the execution of classes, field activations, workshops, trade events, and distributor educational experiences
  • Identify areas of opportunity and strategically deploy field education resources to support market growth and business needs
  • Assist in developing educational and business-building tools that support distributor and salon success
  • Support onboarding initiatives that strengthen brand knowledge, positioning, product understanding, and professional advocacy
  • Help ensure education initiatives align with overall commercial objectives and growth strategies
  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Brand, Creative, and Education teams to align strategic initiatives and maximize business impact
  • Support promotional campaigns, product launches, field marketing initiatives, and professional events
  • Assist in the creation of sales presentations, business recaps, training materials, and distributor support assets
  • Provide market feedback, competitive insights, market shifts and customer trends to leadership, marketing, and product development teams
  • Participate in strategic planning conversations related to professional channel growth and field activation

Qualifications & Experience
  • 3+ years of experience within the professional beauty, salon, haircare, or prestige beauty industry
  • Proven experience in business development, distributor management, field sales, account growth, or professional channel support
  • Experience working with professional distributors such as SalonCentric, CosmoProf/BSG, Ulta Beauty, or regional distributor networks preferred
  • Demonstrated success driving revenue growth, sell-through, and strategic partnerships
  • Experience supporting education initiatives, field activations, or professional learning programs preferred
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking capabilities
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills
  • Strong presentation and facilitation abilities
  • Ability to analyze sales trends, market opportunities, and business performance metrics
  • Strong organizational and project management skillsn
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Executive presence and strong cross-functional communication capabilities
  • Ability to influence across teams, departments, and organizational levels
  • Budget management and ROI evaluation experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AI platforms, CRM systems, and reporting tools
Additional Requirements
  • Licensed cosmetologist preferred but not required
  • Existing relationships within the professional salon industry strongly preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 50-60%, including weekends and industry events
