The primary purpose of this position is to assist Community Credit Union of Florida (“CCU”) in living out our Mission, “Always improve the financial well-being of our members and make a positive difference in the communities we serve,” by delivering outstanding service to both internal and external members.

The Business Development Manager delivers outstanding service to internal and external members by identifying financial needs and recommending appropriate credit union solutions. The Business Development Manager develops and supports relationships with employers, employer groups, and community organizations to acquire new members, provide financial resources and education, promote CCU products and services, and increase brand awareness. This position serves as the primary contact for current and prospective employer groups and requires schedule flexibility, including the ability to work non-traditional hours.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Business Development and Relationship Management
  • Conduct regular business-development and sales calls with prospective organizations while strengthening relationships with existing employer groups and partners. Prepare and deliver sales presentations, engage decision-makers, and cultivate long-term partnerships.
  • Continuously identify Bank-at-Work prospects and other credit union opportunities. Maintain an active pipeline and record activity in the credit union’s customer relationship management (CRM) system.
  • Manage employer-group relationships through regular communication and coordinated on-site activities, including enrollment sessions, financial workshops, and presentations. Increase awareness and membership participation by helping members access information and assistance with deposit and loan products.
  • Identify and pursue sales opportunities by supporting the opening of deposit and loan accounts and referring mortgage and commercial opportunities to the appropriate departments. Track activities in the CRM and other approved tools, including Asana and Excel.
Community Engagement, Events, and Education
  • Represent CCU at community events and sponsorships, including public-speaking opportunities, to promote its products and services. Maintain active involvement in appropriate community organizations to strengthen CCU’s local presence.
  • Prepare accurate, detailed, and timely reports on employer-group development activities and membership penetration.
  • Help plan, set up, and support internal and external marketing promotions and functions, including grand openings, annual meetings, shred days, member education, tabletop events, and staff meetings.
  • Develop, coordinate, and present training and orientation programs for credit union, business, community, and school audiences. Deliver presentations to local organizations, including chambers of commerce, professional associations, and service groups.
Program Management and Brand Development
  • Create project plans and schedules for developing and maintaining relationships with targeted employer groups. Monitor scope, direction, milestones, and deliverables; identify risks; and work with the VP of Marketing on corrective action.
  • Coordinate on-campus brand ambassador programs and manage day-to-day needs through regular visits to high school and college campuses. Identify focus areas and execution challenges and help create tools and training that enable ambassadors to succeed.
  • Identify local opinion leaders and influencers, and support brand campaigns, product launches, brand-building events, and cross-marketing programs.
Compliance, Service, and Organizational Responsibilities
  • Maintain working knowledge of credit union policies, rates, documents, and disclosures to support compliance and consistent application of current regulations.
  • Follow daily procedures related to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP), and Customer Due Diligence (CDD).
  • Support CCU’s mission, core values, and long-term objectives by performing duties in accordance with its bylaws, regulations, Board of Directors policies, service standards, and work procedures. Maintain product knowledge as measured by the annual product knowledge assessment.
  • Provide excellent service to internal and external members in accordance with CCU’s Service Promises and established service goals, as measured by the Internal Service Survey.
  • Respond promptly to members and coworkers, promote teamwork, respect the opinions, abilities, and contributions of others, and cooperate for the benefit of the organization.
  • Support established departmental goals and follow all credit union operating policies and procedures, as well as applicable state and federal regulations and guidelines.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

The following qualifications reflect the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities generally required for satisfactory performance. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered, and individual qualifications may vary from these guidelines.

  • Education and experience: Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in marketing, journalism/media, communications, business, or a related field; three to five years of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Relevant experience should include exceptional customer service and outside sales, preferably in financial services. Education may include in-house training, formal study, or financial‑industry coursework.
  • Presentation and communication: Demonstrated creativity and excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively with varied audiences; interpret documents and procedures; provide instructions; and prepare clear reports and correspondence.
  • Organization and independence: Excellent organization, time‑management, multitasking, and delegation skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and contribute effectively as a team member.
  • Technology: Proficiency with computers and standard word‑processing, spreadsheet, and data‑management applications.
  • Judgment and analysis: Ability to develop and implement solutions, exercise independent and discretionary judgment, organize information efficiently, and research and analyze new and existing program concepts.
  • Mathematical ability: Basic math skills, including calculating interest, balancing accounts, working with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, and identifying routine mathematical errors.
  • Driving requirements: A current Florida driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage for assigned job duties and responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT, MENTAL, AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work Setting and Travel

This position operates primarily in a clean, comfortable, open office setting where the employee can move about as needed. The environment may include minor distractions such as noise, odors, or drafts. Frequent local travel to current and prospective select employer groups is required, with driving estimated at approximately 40% of work time. Hybrid work is available for this role in accordance with the credit union’s Flexible Work Arrangements policy.

Equipment Used

The employee may use standard office and presentation equipment, including telephones, computers, printers, copiers, scanners, fax machines, calculators, and related technology. They employee will use a pop-up tent and other items for outdoor events.
