Job summary

OneOC in Santa Ana, California, is seeking a Manager, Business Development to lead the Nonprofit Learning Center and advance strategic initiatives that strengthen nonprofits regionally. You will build partnerships with nonprofit leaders, foundations, sponsors, and volunteers, expanding OneOC's capacity and driving sustainable revenue growth through programs and custom trainings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Nonprofit Management, Communications, Education, or a related field.
  • Three or more years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit management, business development, professional education, workforce development, fundraising, corporate partnerships, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success in business development, relationship management, sponsorship development, or revenue generation, with the ability to identify opportunities and achieve measurable growth.
  • Experience leading professional development programs, learning initiatives, conferences, training events, or multi-faceted projects from strategy through execution.
  • Experience developing and managing budgets, revenue goals, performance metrics, and business plans.
  • Strong understanding of the nonprofit sector, including nonprofit leadership, governance, capacity building, funding strategies, and the evolving challenges facing nonprofit organizations.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage, influence, and collaborate effectively with nonprofit leaders, corporate partners, volunteers, and community stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills who uses data and insights to inform decisions, improve performance, and drive organizational growth.
  • Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead OneOC's Nonprofit Learning Center by planning, implementing, and evaluating professional development programs, including single training, certificate series, leadership cohorts, symposiums, and custom training opportunities.
  • Build strategic relationships with nonprofit leaders, foundations, corporations, sponsors, volunteers, trainers, and community partners to expand OneOC's impact and strengthen organizational capacity.
  • Drive strategic growth by developing sponsorships, securing custom training contracts, identifying new business opportunities, and achieving annual revenue goals.
  • Represent OneOC throughout Orange County by serving as a visible ambassador at community meetings, networking events, conferences, and partner engagements.
  • Deliver an exceptional client experience by serving as the primary relationship manager for the Nonprofit Learning Center and connecting organizations with OneOC's full portfolio of services.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to promote Learning Center programs through marketing campaigns, website content, newsletters, and outreach strategies that increase participation and awareness.
  • Recruit, engage, and support volunteer trainers, coaches, consultants, and subject matter experts to deliver high-quality learning experiences.
  • Manage operational performance by overseeing program budgets, revenue, Salesforce reporting, key performance indicators, and continuous process improvement.
  • Foster innovation by identifying emerging trends and developing new programs, partnerships, and learning opportunities that meet the evolving needs of the nonprofit sector.
  • Champion OneOC's mission and values by working collaboratively across service lines to strengthen nonprofit organizations and advance OneOC's strategic priorities.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

As the Business Development Manager, you will provide leadership for OneOC's Nonprofit Learning Center while advancing strategic initiatives that strengthen nonprofit organizations throughout Orange County. This highly visible role serves as a trusted ambassador for OneOC, building meaningful relationships with nonprofit leaders, corporate partners, foundations, sponsors, volunteers, and community stakeholders to expand organizational capacity and accelerate nonprofit success. You will lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of OneOC's professional development initiatives, including individual training courses, certificate series, leadership cohorts, symposiums, custom training engagements, and sponsored learning opportunities. Through innovative programming and exceptional customer experiences, you will help nonprofit organizations develop stronger leaders, more effective boards, and sustainable organizations. Success in this role extends beyond program management. You will cultivate strategic partnerships, identify sponsorship opportunities, secure custom training contracts, and expand OneOC's reach throughout the nonprofit sector. Working collaboratively across OneOC's service lines, you will connect nonprofit organizations with the full portfolio of OneOC solutions, helping organizations access the resources, expertise, and services they need to thrive. The Business Development Manager is accountable for achieving annual revenue goals while expanding OneOC's impact through strategic partnerships, sponsorships, custom training, and Job Description innovative capacity-building programs. As the primary relationship manager for the Nonprofit Learning Center, you will ensure an exceptional client experience from initial engagement through long-term partnership. You will collaborate closely with volunteer subject matter experts, trainers, consultants, sponsors, and community partners while utilizing Salesforce to manage relationships, track business development activities, monitor revenue performance, and report key performance indicators to leadership.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

COMPUTER & EQUIPMENT SKILLS:
  • Microsoft Office Tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Internet and email programs proficiently.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce or other CRM programs
  • Has good general knowledge of computer operations; uses a keyboard and calculator proficiently and with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Uses typical office equipment (i.e., fax, phone, copiers).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Sits for extended periods of time, with intense concentration, at a computer station or work desk. Stands and walks throughout the day.
  • Uses hands and fingers to operate computers and office equipment for up to 8 hours or more each day.
  • Requires clear vision at 20 inches or less with or without corrective lenses and vision sufficient to use equipment and drive a car safely.
  • Has hearing and speech within normal ranges and sufficient for clear communication face to face and on the telephone.
  • Lifts up to ten pounds regularly and twenty-five pounds occasionally.

COMPENSATION:

The salary range will be $70,000 - $75,000 per year. Additional benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a 4% employer contribution to a 403(b)-retirement plan after one year of employment with OneOC.
