Job description

Your Opportunity

At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us challenge the status quo and transform the finance industry together.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without employer sponsorship.

The Business Development Manager plays a pivotal role in driving adoption of Schwab banking and lending solutions across Investor Services. As a trusted resource to Financial Consultants, clients, and internal partners, this role combines relationship management, sales enablement, education, problem solving, and operational discipline to expand the reach and effectiveness of the Bank Sales team.

Working in close partnership with Business Development Officers, the Business Development Manager serves as a readily available regional resource while Business Development Officers are engaged in field-based activity. The role helps Financial Consultants recognize lending opportunities, prepare for client conversations, navigate product and process questions, troubleshoot complex scenarios, and move active business toward resolution. This role also maintains disciplined Salesforce practices for opportunities requiring Bank Sales involvement, supporting accurate reporting, timely follow-up, and clear visibility into regional activity.

This is a virtual role that requires strong organization, independent ownership, active collaboration, and consistent availability during the business hours of the supported region.

Why You're Set Up for Success

You will join a collaborative Bank Sales team with strong partnerships across Investor Services. Clear processes, established product resources, coaching, and access to experienced Business Development Officers will help you build lending knowledge and confidently support regional partners. Success comes from curiosity, responsiveness, disciplined follow-through, and a willingness to turn complex questions into practical guidance.

What You Will Do
Drive Adoption and Enable the Region
  • Build trusted relationships with Financial Consultants, Business Development Officers, clients, branch leaders, and internal partners across the supported region.
  • Increase awareness and adoption of banking and lending solutions through education, outreach, regional forums, and support tailored to partner experience and business needs.
  • Help Financial Consultants identify opportunities, ask effective discovery questions, position solutions, prepare for client conversations, and navigate product eligibility or process requirements.
  • Identify recurring friction, partner knowledge gaps, and regional opportunities, then develop or coordinate scalable solutions.
  • Extend Business Development Officer capacity by providing expertise, continuity, and follow-through while they are engaged in field activity.
Execute Opportunities and Govern the Pipeline
  • Support lead intake, opportunity development, client engagement, pricing or exception workflows, and follow-up in partnership with Business Development Officers and Financial Consultants.
  • Maintain accurate and timely Salesforce documentation for opportunities in which Bank Sales is actively advancing, coordinating, or resolving client needs.
  • Monitor active work, aging items, and handoffs to help prevent opportunities or complex requests from stalling.
  • Produce reporting and business insights that provide visibility into pipeline health, activity, and regional opportunities.
  • Identify process gaps and recommend improvements, automation, or shared practices that increase consistency, efficiency, and partner capacity.
Deliver a Strong Client and Partner Experience
  • Provide timely guidance on lending products, processes, resources, account eligibility, payments, interest information, and common servicing needs.
  • Research and coordinate resolution of complex product, application, account, process, or system issues, escalating and keeping stakeholders informed when appropriate.
  • Educate partners on the underlying process, available resources, and preventive steps so they can navigate similar situations more confidently in the future.
  • Collaborate across Bank Sales and partner teams to remove barriers, share knowledge, and deliver a consistent experience while operating within applicable policies, procedures, and risk requirements.
What you have
The Expertise You Bring
  • Experience supporting business development, sales enablement, relationship management, financial services, banking, lending, or a comparable client-facing function.
  • Experience guiding partners or clients through complex products, processes, or service needs and coordinating work through resolution.
  • Experience managing a pipeline, case inventory, portfolio, or comparable body of work that requires accurate documentation and timely follow-up.
  • Working knowledge of customer relationship management platforms such as Salesforce, or demonstrated ability to learn comparable systems quickly.
  • Ability to work effectively in a virtual environment and remain available during the business hours of the supported region.
  • Commitment to operating within applicable policies, procedures, controls, and risk requirements.
The Skills You Bring
  • Relationship building and influence without direct authority.
  • Consultative discovery, active listening, and needs-based solution positioning.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain complex information in practical terms.
  • Problem solving, research, judgment, and coordinated issue resolution.
  • Organization, prioritization, attention to detail, and ownership from initial request through resolution or handoff.
  • Pipeline discipline, data accuracy, reporting, and follow-through.
  • Learning agility and the ability to build knowledge of banking products, lending concepts, systems, and resources.
  • Collaboration, knowledge sharing, continuous improvement, and a business-owner mindset.
