About the Role
Our client, a commercial bank with a strong base of Taiwanese corporate clients, is expanding its presence in the local U.S. market. They're looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to help grow their commercial banking client base in the Los Angeles area. This is a newly created role to complement their existing client relationships and drive local business growth.
What You'll Do
- Coordinate and underwrite Commercial, C&I, and Syndication transactions in line with bank policies and applicable state/federal banking regulations
- Acquire new clients and expand relationships with existing ones
- Maintain and grow a profitable loan portfolio by identifying new lending and credit opportunities
- Oversee the existing portfolio in partnership with Loan Officers, analyzing company fundamentals against industry trends and market conditions
- Supervise internal reporting systems and guide the team on daily processing functions
- Support regulatory exams, audits, and validations as needed
Business Development & Deposits
- Drive deposit growth by building strong relationships with commercial clients, SMEs, and high-net-worth individuals across the West Coast market
- Identify new business opportunities and promote a full range of deposit products (checking, savings, CDs)
- Deliver tailored financial recommendations and exceptional client service
- Collaborate with relationship managers and internal teams to hit branch growth targets
- Proactively source new deposit clients through networking, referrals, and community outreach
- Deepen existing client relationships to maximize retention and cross-selling
- Ensure compliance with BSA/AML, CIP, OFAC, and other applicable banking regulations
- Prepare regular business development reports and pipeline updates
Team
This role will lead a team of 5–6 direct reports.
What Our Client Is Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- 10+ years of Corporate Banking experience in lending
- 5+ years of supervisory or management experience
- A strong, established book of business
- English/Mandarin bilingual a plus, but not required
- Strong leadership, analytical, and strategic management skills
- Ability to structure creative, sound credit facilities and work independently
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Working knowledge of GAAP accounting and financial statement analysis
- Proficiency in Excel and standard office software
- Base salary: $120,000–$170,000/year (based on experience and qualifications)
- Performance-based commission tied to new client acquisition (structure to be finalized)
