Business Development Manager Overview
The Business Development Manager is responsible for the overall business production of the assigned banking center. This role involves outside sales, promotion of bank products to qualified clients, ethical oversight of bank operations, and fostering a positive environment that provides superior client experience and associate engagement. Responsibilities
- Produce, measure, manage, and set strategy for sales based on daily/monthly/quarterly/annual budgeted goals. Responsible for a majority of the new business for the banking center based on generating own leads and following leads from targeted marketing campaigns.
- Work closely with marketing and other retail teams in coordinating marketing campaigns and other sales activities; suggest areas of focus and marketing strategies.
- Reach specified annual goals, including establishing a minimum of 12 COI connections; actively connect with target client groups; and participate in civic leadership programs, local Chambers of Commerce, and high‑impact not‑for‑profit organizations.
- Spend at least 80% of time in outside sales, marketing bank products to target clients outside the banking center by contacting potential consumers, businesses, and community/civic organizations; explain appropriate bank products to target audience; interview clients; take loan applications, quote rates, and close loans; cross‑sell new products to current clients. Expected to have at least 15 pre‑set sales calls and an additional 20 other sales activities per week.
- Ensure client experience is fast, easy, and personal consistent with company client service standards through modeling, training, and recruiting for correct behavior.
- Hold team accountable for banking center procedures to ensure profitable and secure business; delegate operations such as assuring video cameras and locks are functional and security access is controlled.
- Hold team accountable for ensuring premises provide a safe work environment, regular inspection and remediation of hazards, regular maintenance and cleaning, adherence to posting requirements, and comfortable space for associates.
- Ensure all associates adhere to bank policies, federal/state laws, and promote ethical behavior.
- Supervise approximately two associates: interview, hire, coach, schedule, counsel, motivate, train, prepare performance evaluations, deliver discipline, and terminate when appropriate; conduct regular meetings and provide frequent feedback to support career paths.
- Achieve satisfactory outcomes of audits/reviews by compliance, internal audit, deposit operations, and other departments or regulatory bodies.
- Protect client and bank information confidentially and follow company policies.
- Understand, communicate, and instill the company's mission, vision, and values (Pillars of Success).
- Complete monthly training to ensure knowledge of bank regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Work at the worksite during regular business hours and/or assigned hours.
- Other specified duties as assigned.
