Business Development Manager

Job Locations: US-CA-Concord | US-CA-Santa Fe Springs

Overview:

Element has an opportunity for a Business Development Manager responsible for named accounts within a specific geographic area. In this role, you will pursue sales opportunities to sell the full range of Element services within designated accounts to meet your assigned budget. You will support strategic or key accounts within your territory, engaging in activities at local sites.

The ideal candidate would be based around the LA, Bay San Diego, or Bay Area vicinities, covering labs in Santa Fe Springs, CA, and Concord, CA.

The base salary ranges from $120k-$160k, depending on experience, and includes sales incentives.

Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key decision makers within assigned accounts.
  • Drive profitable sales expansion, focusing on acquiring new clients, re-engaging dormant accounts, and growing existing ones.
  • Analyze market and industry trends to identify customer needs.
  • Identify early sales opportunities to maximize Element's share of wallet.
  • Deliver presentations, negotiate, and close deals in coordination with local resources.
  • Represent Element professionally at industry events, in professional organizations, and within the community.
  • Prepare sales reports and presentations showing volume, potential, and expansion areas.
  • Follow up on quotations promptly.
  • Achieve sales targets by converting, retaining, and penetrating accounts.
  • Collaborate with other sales roles and utilize technical support to maximize territory sales.
  • Lead sales process steps: qualifying, relationship building, needs evaluation, solution presentation, and closing.
  • Identify additional opportunities within accounts across Element.
  • Use CRM actively to record and update activities and contact details.
  • Participate in pipeline reviews and ensure CRM data accuracy.
  • Maintain knowledge of Element's services and participate in training.
  • Comply with all company policies and applicable laws regarding safety, environment, and governance.
Skills / Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of technical sales experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; other four-year degrees considered.
  • Experience selling in the Pharmaceutical Market and understanding of regulatory landscape.
  • Knowledge of testing procedures and requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications, including Dynamics AX and CRM.
  • Availability to travel up to 50%, including some overnight stays.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interface with clients, develop proposals, and determine requirements.
