Business Development Intern

New York, NY, US

9 days ago Requisition ID: 1625

Salary Range: $18.00 To $20.00 Hourly

Business Development Intern

As a leader in advancing New York’s energy transition, the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has remained a credible, objective, and trusted partner in our state’s energy planning as well as in deploying new and innovative technologies to expand New York’s economy. NYSERDA has worked for the past 50 years to protect the environment and help New Yorkers increase energy efficiency, lower energy costs and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. NYSERDA engages with stakeholders including residents, business owners, developers, community leaders, local government officials, universities, utilities, investors, entrepreneurs, and more, to develop, invest, and foster conditions that:

  • Attract the private sector capital investment needed to expand New York’s clean energy economy.
  • Overcome barriers to using clean energy at a large-scale in New York.
  • Enable New York’s communities and residents to benefit equitably in the clean energy transition.
Internship Overview

NY Green Bank ("NYGB"), a division of NYSERDA, is a globally recognized $1.0 billion sustainable investment management fund with the mission to accelerate clean energy deployment in New York State ("NYS"or the "State") by collaborating with the private sector to transform financing markets. NYGB works to increase the size, volume and breadth of sustainable infrastructure investment activity throughout the State, expand the base of investors focused on NYS clean energy, and increase market participants’ access to capital on commercial terms. To achieve these objectives, NYGB develops transaction structures and methodologies that overcome typical clean energy investment barriers, such as challenges evaluating risk and addressing the needs of distributed energy and efficiency projects where underwriting may be geared more towards larger and/or groups of somewhat homogeneous investment opportunities.

The Business Development & Innovation (BDI) team advances NY Green Bank’s business development efforts by originating new investment opportunities, identifying emerging market and financing gaps, and building strategic relationships across public and private financial institutions and clean energy developers. The team also translates market and policy insights into new or refined debt products, helping position NY Green Bank as a catalytic lender in underserved clean energy markets.

This is a part-time, paid internship for current students at an accredited college. The pay rate is from $18 to $20 per hour based on current class year. This internship will begin in September or October 2026 and continue to December 18, 2026. There is a possibility of extending this internship into the Spring 2027 semester.

Interns must be located in New York State or an immediately adjacent state while working. It is expected that interns will follow our telework policy, with a combination of in-office and remote work. Interns can work up to 18.5 hours per week during the semester.
