Job Overview

The Aerospace and Defense (A&D) business unit at TE Connectivity has an opportunity for a Business Development Engineer & Systems Architect in the US to support Rugged Fiber Optics (RFO) in North America. The right candidate will work closely with customers to recommend products and solutions for new and existing applications. Responsibilities include identifying new applications, requirements, modifications, and enhancements to meet customer specifications. You will manage all technical aspects of the sales cycle to meet customer needs, including opportunity identification, solution determination, demand creation, detailed product specifications, technical marketing support, project execution, and follow-up support.

Responsibilities Will Include But Not Limited To:

  1. Market Sensing & Strategy Development – 50%
    • Seek new business opportunities by aligning customer needs to grow the sales pipeline in line with the RFO product and technology map.
    • Develop a network within customer organizations to foster cooperation and become a trusted partner.
    • Understand customer strategies, technology roadmaps, market trends, and competition to drive and create new solutions.
  2. Systems / Technical Interaction with the Customer – 50%
    • Serve as the technical interface between the customer and TE, providing high-quality support, consulting, and advice on technical topics.
    • Identify current and future customer needs with RFO application knowledge and promote TE's technical portfolio.
    • Engage early in customers' design cycles for new product and platform planning.
    • Contribute to new product development opportunities and provide conceptual design modeling.
    • Generate, prepare, and present proposals to customers, working closely with sales and product management.
    • Ensure timely delivery of product samples, design support, and verification activities.

Qualifications:

  • 4-year technical or business degree; advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in business, sales, and engineering, with aerospace & defense market knowledge preferred; US ITAR clearance required.
  • Fiber Optics product knowledge required.
  • Strong organizational skills, commitment to growth, and excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Result-oriented approach.

Additional Information:

  • Location: Berwyn, PA, US (Remote with 50-75% travel)
  • Compensation: $129,600 - $194,400 + incentives and benefits
