Job Title: Business Development Director – Woven Apparel

Location: New York City or Remote

Reports To: Co-Founder, Original Madras Trading Company

About Us

Original Madras Trading Company (OMTC) is an importer of finished woven casual garments - including shirts, casual pants, shorts, unconstructed jackets, casual dresses, sleepwear, and women's and children’s wear from India.

PS Exports & Consolidates Pvt. Ltd. India, is a vertically integrated textile and apparel manufacturer headquartered in Chennai, India, with whom OMTC has been buying garments for the past 5 decades.

The garment factory in Madras specializes in finished apparel. As we expand our reach, OMTC is focused on building direct relationships with American retailers/brands that are seeking reliable, high-quality finished goods with flexibility on styles, production minimums and a focus on quality over quantity.

Who We’re Looking For

We're looking for a self-starting, relationship-driven sales executive with experience in apparel sourcing, specifically with wovens. You should be passionate about fabric and product, fluent in the needs of retail brands, and ready to help a vertically integrated company scale. This role requires both tactical execution and strategic thinking, and reports directly to the Co-Founder.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive garment sales growth across North America targeting brands, converters, and wholesalers.
  • Manage the end-to-end B2B sales cycle from initial outreach and sampling to delivery coordination.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with sourcing teams, product developers, and design leads at client companies.
  • Conduct market and competitor analysis to help position OMTC garments for maximum impact.
  • Monitor and report on customer buying trends, reorder patterns, and quality feedback to inform product development.

Qualifications:

  • Existing network in the apparel industry across North America.
  • 5 years of experience in apparel sourcing.
  • Experience working directly with overseas manufacturers and managing production timelines.
  • Highly organized, with strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills
