ABOUT THE ROLE

The Business Development Director for Tequila in Illinois ensures market growth and profitability in line with company objectives for the Spirits business in the assigned state. This involves leading, planning, directing, motivating, training, and measuring distributor organizations. Manages trade marketing to support sales initiatives.

The role involves embedding Diageo's vision within our distributor partners by providing clear direction and fostering collaboration. The role significantly influences distributor teams, emphasizing teamwork and results.

Role Responsibilities:

  1. Engage with state-level Distributor GM to ensure category performance.
  2. Collaborate with brand marketing to identify growth opportunities based on field insights.
  3. Plan local activation events to build brand awareness.
  4. Empower distributor sales teams to create ideal outlets.
  5. Achieve KPIs and market share growth in strategic accounts and channels.
  6. Identify high-potential accounts and allocate resources.
  7. Develop strategies for financial performance with cross-functional teams and distributors.
  8. Build strong relationships with distributors and optimize route-to-market strategies.
  9. Consider environmental, social, and legal factors affecting sales and distributor economics.
  10. Work with leadership to implement pricing strategies.
  11. Grow market share in top accounts through retail teams and distributors.

Financial responsibilities include managing depletion-based P&L, shipment-based P&L, marketing budgets, and expenses.

Experience / Skills Required:

  • Undergraduate degree and 10+ years of market development and sales experience with proven success.
  • Field sales, distributor management, and team leadership experience.
  • Financial management knowledge, including planning and analysis.
  • Skills in pricing, data analysis, and portfolio strategy.
  • Positive attitude, organization, influence, independence, quick learning, resilience.
  • Understanding of supply chain and distributor dynamics.
  • Persuasive selling, negotiation, problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify growth opportunities and execute brand strategies.
