We are representing a leading renewable energy business seeking an experienced Director of Business Development – Feedstock to drive the sourcing and commercial development of industrial organic feedstocks for anaerobic digestion and renewable natural gas (RNG) production.

This role will focus on identifying, evaluating, and securing long-term feedstock supply agreements with industrial producers, ensuring materials are commercially viable and suitable for increasing methane production at existing facilities.

The successful candidate will combine strong business development capabilities with an understanding of industrial waste streams, feedstock economics, and anaerobic digestion operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and develop new industrial feedstock supply opportunities across North America.
  • Build relationships with food and beverage manufacturers, agricultural processors, dairies, breweries, distilleries, and other industrial producers.
  • Source organic by-products, liquids, slurries, and other materials suitable for anaerobic digestion.
  • Evaluate feedstock volumes, quality, logistics, availability, and commercial viability.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Environmental teams to assess feedstock suitability and methane-production potential.
  • Lead commercial negotiations covering supply agreements, pricing, transportation, and long-term commitments.
  • Coordinate feedstock testing, site evaluations, and onboarding.
  • Maintain a strong pipeline of qualified feedstock opportunities and strategic industry relationships.

Please note: This role focuses on industrial organic by-products rather than post-consumer food waste or materials requiring depackaging.

Candidate Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, feedstock sourcing, industrial organics, waste management, agricultural processing, biogas, RNG, or a related industry.
  • Established relationships across industrial manufacturing, food processing, agriculture, or organic waste sectors.
  • Strong commercial negotiation and business development skills.
  • Understanding of feedstock supply chains, transportation economics, and industrial organic materials.
  • Experience working with technical and operational teams to assess commercial opportunities.
  • Self-motivated, commercially focused, and comfortable managing multiple projects independently.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for client meetings, site visits, and industry events.
The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing renewable energy platform and play a key role in expanding its feedstock supply network.

The successful individual will have significant autonomy to develop strategic partnerships, secure commercially attractive feedstock agreements, and directly contribute to the growth and performance of renewable natural gas production facilities.
