Job summary

Devon Energy is seeking a Corporate Development Professional in the United States to deliver rigorous financial analysis for M&A and A&D transactions. You will build and maintain complex models (DCF, NAV, comps) and support the full lifecycle from screening to due diligence and execution.

This role interfaces with land, engineering, and legal teams to align inputs with operational realities. Ideal candidates will have 3+ years in investment banking, PE, or corp dev, with exposure to E&P deals,

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in investment banking, private equity, or corporate development with meaningful exposure to E&P M&A or A&D transactions.
  • Demonstrated financial modeling experience — DCF, NAV, comparable analysis — required.
  • Familiarity with Enverus, FactSet, or Bloomberg preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Builds and maintains financial models to evaluate acquisition, divestiture, and merger opportunities — including DCF, NAV, accretion/dilution, contribution analysis, and comparable company and transaction frameworks.
  • Supports preparation of investment screening materials, pro forma financial analyses, and transaction presentations for senior leadership and the Board.
  • Participates in due diligence processes — synthesizing reserve and engineering inputs, financial data, and counterparty information into investment-ready analysis.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining the analytical infrastructure of the Corp Dev team, including standardized model templates, comps libraries, and diligence frameworks.
  • Monitors E&P market activity — public company transactions, A&D deal flow, equity performance, and commodity trends — to identify opportunities and inform deal positioning.
  • Supports preparation of bid packages, IOIs, and LOIs on A&D transactions, coordinating with land, engineering, and legal counterparts.
  • Maintains relationships with energy investment banking and advisory professionals to stay current on deal flow and market intelligence.
  • Collaborates with Finance, Strategy, and Engineering to ensure analytical inputs reflect current operational and financial assumptions.

The Corporate Development Professional is responsible for delivering rigorous financial analysis to support Devon’s M&A and A&D transaction activity. Working under general supervision, the role builds and maintains financial models — DCF, NAV, comparable company and transaction analyses, and pro forma frameworks — that underpin investment decisions across Devon’s evolving corporate development mandate. The role supports the full transaction lifecycle from opportunity screening through due diligence and execution, and contributes to building the analytical infrastructure and workflows that enable Devon’s Corporate Development team to evaluate and lead deals at scale.
