Qualifications

  • Minimum: High School diploma or GED, with at least 3 years of relevant B2B sales experience, including a proven track record of new business development spanning 2 or more years.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent educational background.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret reports and derive actionable insights from data.
  • Financial acumen, including understanding profit and loss statements, food costs, and expense ratios.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to influence stakeholders and build trust.
  • Proficiency in CRM platforms, particularly Salesforce, for planning, forecasting, and managing sales activities.
  • Ability to adapt to change, embrace new ideas, and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to handle multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of foodservice operations, product lines, and ordering procedures, along with an understanding of Sysco’s credit and contractual policies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience in consultative selling, networking, and negotiation strategies.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive, and capable of structuring a weekly schedule for success.

Responsibilities

  • Executing the local new business plan to meet or exceed regional financial targets, focusing on opportunities below $5 million in annual revenue.
  • Collaborating with regional sales leaders to formulate comprehensive business development strategies based on advanced analytics insights.
  • Prioritizing opportunities identified through analytics and sales team recommendations within the Sysco Salesforce platform, with leadership approval.
  • Developing innovative and effective sales plans targeting prospects such as large TRS, multi‑location accounts, and LC2 opportunities.
  • Utilizing a team‑selling approach to address prospect concerns, build trust, and accelerate sales cycles by leveraging cross‑functional expertise.
  • Managing proposal processes for local contracts tailored to client needs and objectives, ensuring alignment with company standards.
  • Supporting other sales team members in expanding business development efforts and securing key accounts to achieve profit plans.
  • Regularly reviewing sales objectives and results, creating actionable plans to address gaps and improve performance.
  • Engaging in continuous learning through training, industry seminars, and reading to stay current with market trends and foodservice innovations.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers, distributors, and industry peers to enhance market presence and credibility.
  • Adapting quickly to new challenges and viewing change as an opportunity for growth and development.
  • Ensuring accurate data entry and activity tracking within the Sysco Salesforce platform for effective account management.
  • Identifying additional sales opportunities through promotions, new services, and distribution channels.
  • Providing insights and feedback on industry trends during sales meetings, food shows, and customer events.
