Qualifications

  • Strong background in using Microsoft Office applications and software.
  • Solid interpretive, analytical, and math skills with a high degree of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent data skills with ability to incorporate good written & oral communication.
  • Ability to organize and disseminate information efficiently, using judgment and prioritization to meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to work with and communicate to all levels of resources and management.
  • Proactive problem-solving and vigorous investigative skills, able to work on own initiative.

Job description

Reporting to the Product Data Manager, the Business Data Specialist is responsible for ongoing business data functions, in a manner consistent with the Company’s standard procedures for the most efficient and accurate data metrics, including data creation and updating to enable preparation and interpretation of information to be used for driving SAP functions and in making economic decisions. Hybrid position reporting to management in Winston-Salem, NC, and Vice President Commercial Development in Derry, North Ireland, in varying capacities.

Responsible for Product Data functions as they relate to the Winston-Salem site, with some time dedicated to basic purchasing functions.

Product Data functions include, but are not limited to, data creation for new products, updating current product data, extending products from other sites, working with customers, and communicating with manufacturing personnel.

Purchasing functions include, but are not limited to, procurement and ordering, documentation and reporting and policy compliance.

Split of Duties will be roughly 80/20, with an emphasis on Business Data Specialist portion of the position.

Business Data Specialist Duties
  • Execution of data creation and maintenance, working with appropriate business resources to ensure complete and accurate data for productive use
  • Control internal and external change requests submitted by Customer Service, Sales, Manufacturing, Technical/R&D, and Quality Assurance departments in accordance with all agreed upon customer requirements and/or quality procedures
  • Review all master data requests submitted to Product Data team; determine classification, priority, and completeness of the request and assign as appropriate
  • Maintain and track progress in data quality improvements where needed
  • Identify and resolve issues that impact data aspects through root cause analysis and corrective action management
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of the planning and manufacturing procedures to ensure planned standards are correct and consistently applied
  • Support the DMS team with specification part creation, updates and any other general support as required
  • Participation in activities as needed assisting the Product Data Manager in providing data and maintaining documents
  • Assist as needed with coordination of movement of master data between plants within the business unit
  • Participation in data cleansing activities supporting data quality, integrity, and accuracy
  • Maintain and facilitate a comprehensive understanding of the data requirements, suggesting and helping in the development of data and system corrections
Buyer Duties
  • Verify purchase requisitions against quotes and ensure proper coding of items
  • Prepare and process purchase orders, securing approval from relevant departments
  • Work with Warehouse personnel to ensure timely receipt of delivered goods
  • Work with Accounts Payable team to ensure timely payment of invoices
  • Maintain accurate records of transactions and provide reports to management
Skills & Qualifications

Requirements
  • Minimum Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education and business-related work experience
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working with business functions and the associated data requirements in existing legacy systems is desirable
  • Detailed knowledge of SAP is advantageous
  • Business related continuing education, seminars, and upkeep are expected
  • Awareness of and Adherence to all, (Corporate and Site), Environmental, Health and Safety policies and procedures.
