Job summary

TheStaffed seeks a Business Data Analyst to lead historical data backfill and gap analysis across legacy accounting systems and the strategic data warehouse in an investment management environment. You will map data flows, perform lineage analysis, and document data gaps, working with Front Office Trading and Portfolio Management teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Qualifications

• 8–15 years of experience in business analysis, data analysis, or related roles within financial services or asset management.
• Demonstrated expertise in data mapping, data lineage analysis, and gap analysis methodologies.
• Strong proficiency in SQL or data querying languages; ability to validate and analyze large datasets independently.
• In-depth knowledge of investment management data structures, asset management systems, and financial services data environments.
• Proven stakeholder management and communication skills, with ability to present technical findings to non-technical audiences.
• Experience gathering business requirements, creating functional specifications, and translating them into technical solutions.
• Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail in producing clear, accurate artifacts for cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Analyze historical data from legacy accounting systems and databases, comparing datasets against the firm's strategic data warehouse and systems of record.
• Perform data lineage analysis to map data flow across multiple platforms and identify root causes of discrepancies.
• Identify, document, and prioritize data gaps between legacy systems and the strategic data model, assessing business impact with Front Office Trading and Portfolio Management teams.
• Define functional requirements and create comprehensive business requirements, process documentation, and data mapping artifacts for gap remediation.
• Partner with technical teams to design and implement solutions aligned with the strategic operating model.
• Gather business requirements from stakeholders, document functional specifications, and communicate findings clearly to both business and technology audiences.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on investment management data, asset management systems, and financial services data practices.
