Waupaca Foundry is committed to relentless improvement, forward-thinking sustainability initiatives, and providing a reliable experience to the millions who use our castings every day. Our goal is to employ individuals who take pride in their work within a culture of continual innovation.
Waupaca Foundry is proud to be an employer of choice for those driven and skilled individuals seeking rewarding careers by producing top quality castings.

You will be right at home at Waupaca Foundry.

The Business / Data Analyst partners with business units across the organization to define reporting and analytics needs and to design, build, and deliver reporting and analytic solutions on the Microsoft Fabric and Power BI platform. This role turns business questions into clear, trusted, and actionable deliverables — reports, dashboards, and semantic models — that help leaders and users make decisions.

This is primarily a reporting and analytics role rather than a data-platform engineering role: the Business / Data Analyst elicits requirements, models data for analysis, and produces the business-facing deliverables, complementing the BI / Data Warehouse Developer who builds and maintains the underlying data warehouse and pipelines. The person works independently with business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions with limited day-to-day direction from IT management.

This position requires strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, along with hands‑on proficiency in the Microsoft Fabric / Power BI stack (data modeling, DAX, and Power Query) and SQL for accessing and validating data, and attention to detail and data accuracy.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partner with business units to elicit, define, and document reporting and analytics requirements, translating business questions into analytic deliverables.
  • Design, build, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models on the Microsoft Fabric platform.
  • Model data and author measures and transformations (DAX, Power Query) to support standardized and self‑service reporting.
  • Validate data accuracy and reconcile deliverables against source systems; investigate and resolve data discrepancies.
  • Enable and support business users on self‑service analytics and Power BI adoption and promote consistent metric definitions.
  • Follow best practices and procedures in order to remain J‑SOX compliant.
  • Document report logic, data sources, and metric definitions; maintain a catalog of standard reports and measures. Participate in project activities and coordinate workload tasks for optimum efficiency.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as required.

Preferred Education / Experience Requirements

  • 3+ years of business/data analyst or BI reporting experience delivering reports and analytics to business users.
  • Hands‑on experience with Power BI (data modeling, DAX, Power Query) and working knowledge of the Microsoft Fabric analytics platform.
  • Proficiency in SQL for querying, profiling, and validating data.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business, Analytics, or a related discipline desired. Equivalent relevant industry experience may be considered.
  • Experience gathering requirements from business stakeholders and translating them into reporting and analytic solutions.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
  • Ability to act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating needs in both directions.
  • Data‑storytelling and visualization‑design sensibility; able to present data clearly to a non‑technical audience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management.
  • Curiosity and a willingness to learn new tools and business domains through self‑study and collaboration.
  • Show initiative and display a positive, flexible attitude.

Equipment Used

Microsoft Fabric / Power BI (including DAX and Power Query), SQL, version control (Git / Azure DevOps), Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).

If selected for consideration, candidates must successfully complete a selection process that includes interviews, reference check/verification, and a pre‑employment drug screen.
