Job summary

GDH is seeking a Business Continuity Manager to lead the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the organization’s business continuity and disaster recovery programs. This role drives enterprise-wide planning, risk assessments, and coordinated response activities across a multi-vendor environment.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in continuity, strong COOP/DR knowledge, and experience with BIAs and cross-functional coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree or equivalent in Business, Emergency Management, IT, or related field.
• 5+ years in business continuity, disaster recovery, crisis management, or related areas.
• Experience with BIAs, risk assessments, and continuity planning for mid-to-large organizations.

Responsibilities

• Lead BC, COOP, and DR programs development, execution, and maintenance.
• Conduct BIAs to identify critical functions, dependencies, and recovery objectives.
• Develop and maintain COOP and DR plans, crisis management protocols, and recovery procedures.
• Oversee annual testing exercises for COOP and DR, including tabletop, failover tests, simulations, and after-action reviews.
• Coordinate with IT and MES teams to maintain DR strategy, RTOs, and RPOs.
• Ensure contractor plans meet regulatory, industry, and internal standards.
• Maintain governance for business continuity across departments.
• Provide training and guidance on COOP and DR best practices.
• Lead incident response efforts during disruptions as primary coordinator.
• Prepare leadership-ready metrics and updates on readiness and risk posture.

Role Summary

The Business Continuity Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the organization’s business continuity and disaster recovery programs. This role ensures organizational resilience by leading enterprise-wide planning, risk assessments, and coordinated response activities. The manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure critical business functions can continue during and after disruptive events, particularly in a multi-vendor environment requiring complex coordination.

This role ensures organizational resilience by leading enterprise-wide planning, risk assessments, and coordinated response activities. The manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure critical business functions can continue during and after disruptive events, particularly in a multi-vendor environment requiring complex coordination.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, execution, and maintenance of the organization’s Business Continuity (BC), Continuity of Operations (COOP), and Disaster Recovery (DR) programs.
• Conduct business impact analyses (BIAs) to identify critical functions, dependencies, recovery objectives, and risk areas.
• Develop and maintain COOP plans, DR plans, crisis management protocols, and recovery procedures.
• Oversee annual testing exercises for COOP and DR, including tabletop exercises, failover tests, simulations, and after-action reviews.
• Partner with IT and MES teams to maintain the DR strategy and infrastructure supporting recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO).
• Ensure contractor plans meet regulatory, industry, and internal compliance standards.
• Maintain a governance structure for business continuity across departments.
• Provide training, awareness, and guidance to business units on COOP and DR best practices.
• Lead incident response efforts during disruptions, serving as primary coordinator for continuity and recovery activities.
• Prepare metrics, reports, and updates for leadership on readiness and risk posture.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in business continuity, disaster recovery, crisis management, or related areas.
• Strong knowledge of COOP methodologies, DR frameworks, and industry standards such as ISO 22301, NIST, and FEMA.
• Experience conducting BIAs, risk assessments, and continuity planning for mid-to-large organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate and lead cross-functional teams during planning and incident response.
• Proficiency in designing RTO/RPO requirements and understanding of cybersecurity threats and incident response.
• Experience managing multi-vendor projects, vendor/vendor management, and cross-organizational coordination.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and disaster recovery tools (Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik, Zerto).
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Emergency Management, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Publishing Pay Range: $65.00 – $75.00 USD Hourly

This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
