Job summary

Investar Bank National As is seeking a Business Banking Relationship Manager II to join our Hammond, LA team. The role focuses on serving small business clients, developing lending solutions, and managing a portfolio of business loans.

You will collaborate with branch leadership, identify new client opportunities, and provide consultative financial guidance while maintaining strong compliance with banking regulations and internal policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field or equivalent experience preferred.
• 5+ years Business Banking or lending related experience, preferably in a financial institution, required
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

Responsibilities

• Develop, facilitate and manage the lending needs of small business clients.
• Research client businesses and provide Business Banking services offered.
• Manage a portfolio of Business Banking loans.
• Collaborate with Branch Managers on training to develop and grow Business Banking.
• Identify and engage potential Business Banking customers through networking, community involvement, and referrals.
• Build and maintain relationships with existing Business Banking clients, fostering trust and long-term partnerships.
• Collaborate with sales and leadership to secure, retain, and grow Business Banking clients.
• Collaborate with management on sales goals, planning, and forecasting as needed.
• Provide exceptional customer service, acting as a trusted advisor to clients and helping them navigate their financial decisions.
• Make cold/warm calls and multiple outbound calls to potential clients as necessary.
• Understand client needs and offer solutions and support through a consultative process.
• Close sales and work with client through the closing process as applicable.
• Ensure that their work is following all applicable laws, regulations, policies and guidelines.

Job Responsibilities

Works directly with the Retail Branch Network to develop, facilitate and manage the lending needs of small business clients. Researches client businesses and provides prospective customers/clients with Business Banking services offered. Ensures Bank standards are met with regards to loan quality.

Directly or indirectly manages a portfolio of Business Banking loans.

Collaborates with Branch Managers on related training in order to develop and grow Business Banking.

Proactively identifies and engages with potential Business Banking customers through networking, community involvement, and referrals.

Builds and maintains strong relationships with existing Business Banking clients, fostering trust and long-term partnerships.

Collaborates with sales and leadership to secure, retain, and Business Banking clients.

Education and Related Experience –

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field or equivalent experience preferred.
• 5+ years Business Banking or lending related experience, preferably in a financial institution, required
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

Skills and Abilities –

• Strong working knowledge of small business or commercial loan documentation and commercial banking.
• Strong knowledge of lending services and related areas.
• Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
• Must possess good organizational and time management skills.
• Must possess ability to perform detailed tasks with accuracy.
• Must possess good financial analytical skills.
• Must possess knowledge of computers and computer operations MS Office software.
• Must possess knowledge of standard office equipment including computer, typewriter, fax machine, scanner and copy machine.

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements –

• Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
• Ability to operate a keyboard if required performing the essential job functions.
• Ability to read and interpret a document.
• Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions.
• Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 20 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions.
