We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Litigation Attorney to join our legal team.

The primary responsibility of an associate attorney is to handle all aspects of a client’s case including communicating with clients and other counsel, drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, preparing for and attending court hearings, conferences, and trials.

Though the Associate’s case load is determined by the Owner, the Associate should always look to relieve the Owner of cases to allow focus on the firm's big picture goals and vision.

Reporting Relationship:

The Attorney works under the supervision of the Owner.

Authority:

The Attorney works under the direction of the Owner.

Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

  1. Client Representation:
    • a. Represent clients in civil and probate litigation cases, including trials, hearings, and other legal proceedings in a timely and efficient manner.
    • b. Appear in state and federal courts, arbitrations, and other judicial tribunals on behalf of clients, presenting well-reasoned arguments.
    • c. Conduct thorough legal research to gather evidence, analyze statutes, regulations, and case law, and develop effective legal strategies.
    • d. Interview clients, witnesses, and experts to gather necessary information for case preparation and to build a strong legal defense or prosecution.
  2. Legal Document Drafting and Review:
    • a. Draft and review legal documents, including complaints, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and settlement agreements.
    • b. Ensure all legal documents comply with relevant laws, regulations, and court rules.
    • c. Conduct legal analysis to identify and anticipate potential legal issues, risks, and outcomes.
  3. Case Management:
    • a. Manage a caseload of litigation matters, ensuring deadlines are met and cases are progressing effectively.
    • b. Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to gather information, prepare for hearings and trials, and develop case strategies.
    • c. Maintain accurate and organized case files, including all relevant documents, correspondence, and notes.
  4. Client Counseling:
    • a. Provide legal advice and counsel to clients, explaining complex legal matters clearly.
    • b. Assess case strengths and weaknesses, providing realistic expectations and potential outcomes.
    • c. Negotiate settlements or plea bargains when appropriate.
  5. Courtroom Advocacy:
    • a. Represent clients in court, presenting oral arguments, examining witnesses, and making persuasive legal arguments.
    • b. Prepare witnesses for testimony and provide courtroom etiquette guidance.
    • c. Stay updated with legal changes impacting ongoing cases.
  6. Other:
    • a. Prepare and analyze contracts and legal instruments, suggesting improvements.
    • b. Anticipate and mitigate potential legal problems for clients.
    • c. Draft additional legal documents as needed.
Education & Experience

Requires admission to the Nevada bar and 4+ years of civil litigation experience. Experience with business transactions is a plus. Must have excellent analytical, communication, legal research, and writing skills. Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain laws in accessible language.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
  • 1. Bill 1200 hours/year (~25 hours/week), tracked in the firm’s system.
  • 2. 80% of each bill paid from trust; avoid work without sufficient trust funds.
  • 3. Track non-billable hours.
  • 4. No late or missed court appearances or deadlines.
  • 5. Monthly case updates for clients.
  • 6. Zero complaints about customer service or professionalism.
  • 7. No more than three unplanned absences in 90 days.
Work Schedule

Reasonable billable hour requirements; all time entries must be submitted timely.
